FLUIDIZATION OF CATALYST IN LATERAL SECTIONS OF A SYSTEM

A system for processing a selected feedstock using a catalyst includes a reactor, a catalyst recovery system, and a conduit. The reactor receives the catalyst and the selected feedstock. A reaction between the selected feedstock and the catalyst generates a spent catalyst. The catalyst recovery system processes the spent catalyst. The conduit connects the reactor to the catalyst recovery system and has a lateral section. The spent catalyst flows from the reactor through a flow space defined by an inner wall of the lateral section to the catalyst recovery system. The system also includes a fluidizer positioned at the lateral section. The fluidizer includes at least one nozzle. The at least one nozzle is completely inside the flow space. The at least one nozzle forms and directs a jet of a fluidizing agent into the spent catalyst in the lateral section.

An integrated process for producing C3-C4 olefins or di-olefins including: contacting a hydrocarbon feed and a catalyst feed in a fluidized dehydrogenation reactor under conditions such that a product mixture is formed and the catalyst is at least partially deactivated; transferring the product mixture and the catalyst from the reactor to a cyclonic separation system under conditions such that the product mixture is converted to form a new product mixture and is separated from the catalyst; transferring at least a portion of the catalyst to a regenerator vessel and heating it in order to combust the coke deposited thereon; subjecting the catalyst to a conditioning step to form an oxygen-containing, at least partially reactivated catalyst; and transferring the partially reactivated catalyst back to the fluidized dehydrogenation reactor.

DEVICE FOR REMOVING CATALYST AND OTHER MATERIAL FROM REFINERY AND PETROCHEMICAL REACTORS AND OTHER VESSELS

Methods and apparatus are disclosed for removing catalyst, absorbents and other materials from a reactor, guard bed, or other refinery or petrochemical vessel via a robotic or remotely operated device. A vacuum hose is connected to the device for removing the material from the vessel for ex-situ regeneration or disposal. The device moves around on the surface of the catalyst using motorized screws that grip to the catalyst material. The device is powered by hydraulic, pneumatic or electric motors attached to the frame of the device with supply and return hoses extending in and out of the vessel in line with the vacuum hose.

A control system for automatic operation of a hydrocracking unit is shown. The control system includes a control device operable to affect at least one of a yield or a product quality of one or more output oil products provided as outputs of the hydrocracking unit. The control system further includes a controller configured to obtain an objective function that quantifies a value of operating the hydrocracking unit as a function of at least one of the yield or the product quality of the one or more output oil products, use a neural network model to generate a target control device setpoint predicted to optimize the objective function when the hydrocracking unit operates at the target control device setpoint, and operate the control device using the target control device setpoint to modulate at least one of the yield or the product quality of the one or more output oil products.

An integrated process, suitable for use in a new or retrofitted plant, produces an olefin or di-olefin via the dehydrogenation of an appropriate C3-C4 hydrocarbon feed includes (1) contacting the feed and a dehydrogenation catalyst having a Geldart A or Geldart B classification in a fluidized bed at a temperature from 550? C. to 760? C. and a pressure from about 41.4 to about 308.2 kPa (about 6.0 to about 44.7 psia) and a catalyst to feed ratio, w/w, from 5 to 100 to form a dehydrogenate product; separating the dehydrogenate product and unreacted starting feed mixture from a portion of the catalyst by means of a cyclonic separation system; reactivating the catalyst in a fluidized regenerator by combustion at 660? C. to 850? C., followed by contact with an oxygen-containing fluid at 660? C. or greater, and returning the catalyst to the dehydrogenation reactor; (2) compressing the product mixture to form a compressed product mixture; and (3) fractionating the compressed product mixture to form a product stream including at least the target olefin or di-olefin. The integrated process offers increased plant capacity, improved economics, and reduced environmental impact in comparison with other known and conventional processes.
