CHEMICAL FEED DISTRIBUTORS AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME
According to one or more embodiments, a chemical feed distributor may include a chemical feed inlet, a body, a plurality of primary chemical feed outlets, and a secondary chemical feed outlet. The chemical feed inlet may pass a chemical feed stream into the chemical feed distributor. One or more walls of the body may define an elongated chemical feed stream flow path. The plurality of primary chemical feed outlets may be spaced along at least a portion of the length of the elongated chemical feed stream flow path and may be operable to pass a first portion of the chemical feed stream out of the feed distributor and into a vessel. The secondary chemical feed outlet may be downstream of the plurality of primary chemical feed outlets and may be operable to pass a second portion of the chemical feed stream out of the chemical feed distributor.
Equal flow scale catcher
An equal flow scale catcher device, or EFSC, is designed based on a unique scale catching technology for a reactor. With multiple scale catching modules, the EFSC offers equal flows to a catalyst bed or distribution tray of the reactor, independent of each module's degree of saturation with particles of an incoming fluid during operation. Thus, the innovative EFSC system achieves substantial uniformity of fluid delivery across the distribution tray of the reactor and the static pressure field above the liquid level on the distribution tray. Further, the EFSC effectively captures solid particles in the incoming fluid to the reactor and solid particles that form at the top head of the reactor. The EFSC employs a modular structure that allows optimal configuration of the scale catching modules and scale catching units inside each scale catching module, thus efficiently facilitating simple and efficient installation, maintenance, and/or replacement of the EFSC.
REACTOR WITH CATALYST UNIT REPLACEABLE IN THE COURSE OF OPERATION AND PROCESS FOR REPLACING A CATALYST UNIT
The invention relates to a reactor, in particular a reactor for purifying offgases. The reactor includes a plurality of housing openings which open into a housing shaft, wherein the housing shafts are fitted with catalyst units. The reactor includes a sealing housing per housing shaft which allows replacement of the catalyst units in the course of ongoing operation of the reactor by way of a suitable arrangement of sealing elements and covering elements without there being any air exchange between an external environment of the reactor and the respective housing shaft.
CATALYTIC REACTOR WITH FLOATING PARTICLE CATCHER
A catalytic reactor comprises a floating particle catcher unit and a particle catching surface which extracts particles from the fluid flow stream above the catalyst bed whereby at least a part of the particles settles on the particle catching surface instead of clogging the catalyst bed.
Scale collection device for downflow reactors
The invention involves a scale collection device that is located within downflow reactor head for removing solids from feed streams to increase reactor operating cycle time without impact on effective reactor space for catalyst loading. More particularly, a filtering zone is located in an upper portion of a reactor vessel above a rough liquid distribution tray and a distribution tray.
DEVICE FOR DISPENSING A FLUID, WHICH DEVICE CAN BE ARRANGED IN A REACTOR COMPRISING A FIXED CATALYTIC BED
The invention relates to a device (D) for distributing a fluid, which is able to be arranged in a fixed catalytic bed (C.sub.1, C.sub.2) of a reactor (R), said device comprising conveying means for conveying said fluid, comprising a plurality of pipes each directly receiving a distinct share of said fluid, distribution means for distributing said fluid, means for generating a local pressure drop in said fluid, such that: the device comprises manifold means (2a) for collecting said fluid together, and providing the fluidic connection between the pipes of said fluid conveying means and said fluid distribution means, said means for generating a local pressure drop are added on to said conveying or distribution or manifold (2a) means.
Catalyst layering in commercial reactor baskets
A method of testing a catalyst in a reactor comprises supplying a feedstock into an upstream end of the reactor and arranging an annular basket within the reactor at a downstream position in the reactor, the annular basket having a central aperture for receiving the flow of feedstock and plurality of stacked layers separated by fluid permeable material, the plurality of stacked layers including a layer of grading material positioned upstream of a layer containing a primary catalyst to be tested for a chemical process. The grading material is adapted to filter out contaminants within the feedstock and to thereby protect the primary catalyst within the basket. Embodiments and methods can utilize layers comprising a first layer containing the primary catalyst, a second layer containing a hydrometallization catalyst and a third layer containing grading material having solid trap particles with reduced catalytic activity.
Hydroprocessing Reactor to Lower Pressure Drop and Extend Catalyst Life
A reactor for accommodating high contaminant feedstocks includes a reactor vessel having an inlet for introducing a feedstock containing contaminants into an interior of the reactor vessel. A basket is located within the reactor vessel interior and contains a particulate material for removing contaminants from the feedstock to form a purified feedstock that is discharged to a purified feedstock outlet. A catalyst is located within the reactor vessel and in fluid communication with the purified feedstock outlet of the basket for contacting the purified feedstock to form a desired product.
