METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR ENHANCING PROCESSING OF HYDROCARBONS IN A FLUID CATALYTIC CRACKING UNIT USING A RENEWABLE ADDITIVE
Systems and methods for enhancing the processing of hydrocarbons in a FCC unit by introduction of the coked FCC catalyst from the FCC reactor and a renewable feedstock to the FCC regenerator to facilitate regeneration of the coked FCC catalyst. The renewable feedstock can contain biomass-derived pyrolysis oil. The biomass-derived pyrolysis oil and coke from the coked FCC catalyst are oxidized by oxygen to provide a regenerated catalyst that is recycled to the FCC reactor.
Multiple Reactor and Multiple Zone Polyolefin Polymerization
Apparatuses and processes that produce multimodal polyolefins, and in particular, polyethylene resins, are disclosed herein. This is accomplished by using two reactors in series, where one of the reactors is a multi-zone circulating reactor that can circulate polyolefin particles through two polymerization zones optionally having two different flow regimes so that the final multimodal polyolefin has improved product properties and improved product homogeneity.
PROCESS FOR THE LARGE-SCALE MANUFACTURE OF ZEOLITE-TEMPLATED CARBON
A method for the large-scale synthesis of a zeolite-templated carbon (ZTC). The method includes the steps of: introducing a bed material comprising a zeolite to a fluidized bed reactor and heating the bed material to a temperature between 550 C. and 800 C.; fluidizing the bed material with a fluidizing gas and maintaining the temperature of the bed material between 550 C. and 800 C.; introducing an organic carbon precursor while fluidizing the zeolite for a period of time such that carbon is deposited on the zeolite by chemical vapor deposition to produce a zeolite-carbon composite; and treating the zeolite-carbon composite with an acid solution such that the zeolite template is dissolved and the ZTC is obtained.
Reactor systems comprising fluid recycling
A method for processing a chemical stream includes contacting a feed stream with a catalyst in an upstream reactor section of a reactor having the upstream reactor section and a downstream reactor section, passing an intermediate product stream to the downstream reactor section, and introducing a riser quench fluid into the downstream reactor section, upstream reactor section, or transition section and into contact with the intermediate product stream and the catalyst to slow or stop the reaction. The method includes separating at least a portion of the catalyst from the product stream, passing the product stream to a product processing section, cooling the product stream, and separating a portion of the riser quench fluid from the product stream. The riser quench fluid separated from the product stream may be recycled back to the downstream reactor section, upstream reactor section, or transition section as the riser quench fluid.
Recovery of chemicals from fuel streams
Various aspects provide for a multistage fluidized bed reactor, particularly comprising a volatilization stage and a combustion stage. The gas phases above the bed solids in the respective stages are separated by a wall. An opening (e.g., in the wall) provides for transport of the bed solids from the volatilization stage to the combustion stage. Active control of the gas pressure in the two stages may be used to control residence time. Various aspects provide for a fuel stream processing system having a pretreatment reactor, a combustion reactor, and optionally a condensation reactor. The condensation reactor receives a volatiles stream volatilized by the volatilization reactor. The combustion reactor receives a char stream resulting from the removal of the volatiles by the volatilization reactor.
Fluidized bed reactor and method for producing granular polysilicon
The fluidized bed process for preparing polysilicon by chemical vapor deposition is improved by positioning at least one Laval nozzle upstream from a gas inlet into the reactor.
Method and device for lightening heavy oil by utilizing a suspension-bed hydrogenation process
A method and device for lightening heavy oil by utilizing a suspension-bed hydrogenation process are provided. In the process, a part of a raw oil is mixed with a suspension-bed hydrocracking catalyst to form a first mixture, then the first mixture is subjected to first shear and second shear in sequence so as to realize high dispersion and mixing of the catalyst and the raw oil; through pretreatment of the raw oil, the device can prevent the raw oil from coking in the hydrogenation process; through the adoption of a suspension-bed reactor with a liquid phase self-circulation function or a cold-wall function; and light and heavy components are separated from the suspension-bed hydrogenated product in advance and only medium component is subjected to fixed-bed hydrogenation, thereby reducing the load of the fixed-bed hydrogenation, prolonging the service life of the fixed-bed catalyst, improving the yield and quality of gasoline and diesel, and being beneficial for energy conservation and emission reduction of the whole system.
FLUID CATALYTIC CRACKING PROCESSES AND APPARATUS
Apparatus and processes herein provide for converting hydrocarbon feeds to light olefins and other hydrocarbons. The processes and apparatus include a conventional riser reactor in combination with a mixed flow (e.g., including both counter-current and co-current catalyst flows) fluidized bed reactor designed for maximizing light olefins production. The effluents from the riser reactor and mixed flow reactor are processed in a catalyst disengagement vessel, and the catalysts used in each reactor may be regenerated in a common catalyst regeneration vessel. Further, integration of the two-reactor scheme with a catalyst cooler provides a refinery the flexibility of switching the operation between the two-reactor flow scheme, a catalyst cooler only flow scheme, or using both simultaneously.
Hydroprocessing system with improved cooling liquid atomization
A hydroprocessing system having a processing vessel that discharges a high temperature effluent that must be cooled prior to collection in a reflux drum. One or more gas assisted spray nozzle are provided that utilize light atomizing gas having a density of 8-15 times less than air, such as hydrogen, which preferably is the processing or recycle gas of the system. The spray nozzles are designed for the efficient atomization and direction of cooling water into a micron sized droplet distribution utilizing the light atomizing gas for affecting higher mass and heat transfer from the effluent. The spray nozzles each include a unique atomizing gas and cooling liquid passageway systems, a downstream impingement post, and a plurality of discharge orifices which sequentially breakdown the liquid into micron sized droplets as low as 500 microns and less.
