A locking fastener may include a head and a shaft with a pin interface configured to engage a pin for locking the locking fastener in place. Such locking fasteners may be used to connect a plurality of casket components, and are especially useful for wooden caskets. Methods of making such locking fasteners using a fastener finishing device are also described herein.

A funerary method includes disposing a deceased adult human body in supine position on an insert having side walls and end walls. The method further includes providing the insert on a tray having two end panels and a plurality of side panels affixed to a bottom panel, and inserting a first edge of a first fabric segment between a side panel of the tray and a side wall of the insert. The first fabric segment is used to cover at least a portion of a top edge of at least the first side wall of the insert and at least a portion of the deceased human body, such that the deceased human body is sufficiently visible for identification. Thereafter, the insert and the deceased human body are removed from the tray.

A remembrance holder, and in particular, a fabric urn that can be comfortably held, hugged, and carried, while safely and securely suspending the beloved's cremains, whether human or animal, and/or mementos to prevent movement and spillage. The fabric urn comprises a cover, at least two support layers, a keepsake pouch, and a divider affixed to an interior surface of the keepsake pouch. The two support layers are placed within the cover. The cremains and/or mementos are placed inside the keepsake pouch as desired and the keepsake pouch is placed between the two support layers within the cover. Placement of the keepsake pouch between the support layers and the divider prevents the keepsake pouch, as well as its contents, from moving around inside the fabric urn. Based on the fabric material of the cover and the support layers, the fabric urn is soft and fluffy, similar to a pillow, and can be held or viewed as a soft-natured display for comfort and memory keeping.

Users of body bags know and live with the technical issues that come with the reality of the manipulation of the corpse of a deceased animal or human. The simple and efficient design of this body bag is free of unnecessary structures, is expandable to adapt to various body shapes depending on species and size through two expandable gussets, is leak proof through glued side folds, presents an aperture that allows access to the entire corpse through a closable flap, is permanently identifiable through a printed identification area, is the only bag necessary for transportation, storing and disposal and is compact, sturdy, and economical. With this invention, technical issues are addressed while bringing an even more dignified look to the corpse of the deceased in the body bag for the family, the public and the professionals involved in the process.

An apparatus for supporting a deceased includes a casket and a panel. The casket fits the dimensions of a human deceased, and includes bottom and side panels. The panel is disposed in the casket, and includes a head portion, a bottom portion, and a plurality of hinges. The head portion contacts a head end of the casket. The bottom portion is coupled to the casket bottom. The hinges are disposed between the head portion and the bottom portion of the panel. The panel is movable between first and second configurations using the hinges. In the first configuration the panel is configured to support at least a portion of the human deceased at a first distance from the casket bottom, and in the second configuration at least the portion of the human deceased is spaced closer to the casket bottom. The first distance is greater than the second distance.

An article for receiving a body of an animal and a method for containing fluid released from a body of an animal are disclosed. The article includes an absorbent layer having an inner side and an outer side opposite the inner side, wherein the absorbent layer is configured to be placed proximate to the body to absorb fluid released from the body; a liquid impermeable sheet attached to the outer side of the absorbent layer and configured to prevent the fluid released from the body from seeping through the liquid impermeable sheet; and an outer layer attached to the liquid impermeable sheet. At least the outer layer is configured to form an outer pouch to contain the body. The outer layer includes closure means configured to secure the body within the outer pouch.

An article for receiving a body of an animal and a method for containing fluid released from a body of an animal are disclosed. The article includes an absorbent layer having an inner side and an outer side opposite the inner side, wherein the absorbent layer is configured to be placed proximate to the body to absorb fluid released from the body; a liquid impermeable sheet attached to the outer side of the absorbent layer and configured to prevent the fluid released from the body from seeping through the liquid impermeable sheet; and an outer layer attached to the liquid impermeable sheet. At least the outer layer is configured to form an outer pouch to contain the body. The outer layer includes closure means configured to secure the body within the outer pouch.

A casket and method for manufacture of a casket is described, and more particularly, for a casket having walls constructed of fiberboard such as medium density fiberboard (MDF). The walls have outside cladding of MDF that is molded or extruded to provide surface contours such as raised and/or recessed features without having to attach such features as separate trim pieces to the walls. The resulting casket provides aesthetic characteristics and strength for use in funeral ceremonies.

A soft transfer case for contaminated material is provided. The transfer case includes a film-laminated, woven textile exterior layer as a pouch. The cylinder is capable of being clamped at each end of the cylinder. An open end elastomeric bladder for containing the contaminated material is contained by the exterior layer. The bladder includes a seam to seal the open end with the material contained therein. Upon pressurization of the bladder, the exterior layer expands and a restraining force is generated between the textile layer and the clamps. A variant of the soft transfer case provides soft end terminations formed by fold-over regions at fold lines in the exterior layer. The exterior layer is fitted with matching locking straps affixed along a longitudinal exterior. The locking straps mechanically lock together. Lifting handles are also affixed to the exterior strength layer to ease transport of the transfer case.
