CARBON DIOXIDE BUFFER VESSEL PROCESS DESIGN
A method of maintaining a syngas composition ratio during an upset condition, including detecting a reduction in the import carbon dioxide flow rate with a carbon dioxide import stream flow sensor, evaluating the reduction in carbon dioxide flow rate or carbon dioxide pressure in a controller, performing one or more predetermined corrective actions as instructed by the controller. Wherein the predetermined corrective actions are chosen from the following: opening a CO2 import stream flow valve, opening a hydrocarbon and steam stream feed valve, opening a CO2 backup stream control valve, opening a syngas backup letdown valve, and starting a composition adjustment unit.
SOFTSENSOR FOR MORPHOLOGY OF POLYMERS
A method of producing a soft sensor for a reference morphology of multiphase latex polymer particles synthesized in a production process is provided. The method is used in monitoring and/or controlling the production process. The method may also be used for optimizing production capacities of the production process.
Apparatus and method for the production of solid dosage forms
An apparatus for the production of solid dosage forms is presented, wherein the apparatus comprises a material processing chamber which is operable for manufacturing a product according to a pre-set product formation process path. The apparatus has at least one sensor for continuously monitoring formation of the product in the material processing chamber during the product formation process non-invasively in real time by sensing at least one product functional attribute value and a means for comparing each sensed product functional attribute value with a desirable product functional attribute value for that point on the product formation process path. A controller controls operation of the material processing chamber in response to the sensed product functional attribute value for maintaining the product on the product formation process path.
Methods for determining transition metal compound concentrations in multicomponent liquid systems
Methods for simultaneously determining the concentrations of transition metal compounds in solutions containing two or more transition metal compounds are described. Polymerization reactor systems providing real-time monitoring and control of the concentrations of the transition metal components of a multicomponent catalyst system are disclosed, as well as methods for operating such polymerization reactor systems, and for improving methods of preparing the multicomponent catalyst system.
DETERMINING OPERATING CONDITIONS IN CHEMICAL PRODUCTION PLANTS
Systems and methods for determining an operating condition of a chemical production plant including at least one catalytic reactor are provided. Via a communication interface operating data and a catalyst age indicator are received (10). At least one target operating parameter for the operating condition of a scheduled production run or a current production run are determined (14). The at least one target operating parameter for the operating condition may be used for monitoring and/or controlling the chemical production plant.
Microparticle producing system which comprises carrying fluid, and a controlling method thereof
A microparticle producing system using microfluidics and a controlling method thereof, and specifically, to a microparticle producing system that may stably transport droplets produced using microfluidics without agglomeration or destruction, compared to the conventional art, and a method of controlling the microparticle producing system to transport the droplets more stably in the microparticle producing system. By the microparticle producing system and the controlling method thereof, which are disclosed herein, droplets produced by the microparticle producing system using microfluidics may be stably transported without agglomeration or destruction, resulting in more effective microparticle production.
Design and Scheduling of Semi-Batch Chemical-Looping Reactors
Systems/methods for continuous operation of fixed bed reactors using gaseous fuels for the purpose of power generation through integration with a combined cycle power plant are provided. The fixed bed reactors are assumed to operate in a semi-batch mode composed of reactor modules that are integrated into module trains that comprise the chemical-looping combustion island of the power plant. The scheduling of each reactor train is cast as an optimization problem that maximizes thermodynamic efficiency subject to constraints imposed to each reactor and the entire island. When the chemical-looping reactors are arranged cyclically, each feeding to or being fed from another reactor, in an operating scheme that mimics simulated moving bed reactors, the thermodynamic efficiency of the reactor island can be improved. Allowing the reversal of module order in the cyclically arranged reactor modules further improves the overall thermodynamic efficiency (to 84.7%), while satisfying constraints imposed for carbon capture, fuel conversion, power plant safety and oxygen carrier stability.
Device for generating hydrogen gas
A device for generating hydrogen gas having two or more storages, each storage storing a reactant or mix of reactants, and each storage coupled to a means of injecting the stored reactant or mix of reactants into a reaction chamber in a controlled manner and at an optimum rate, so that a chemical reaction occurs in the reaction chamber that produces hydrogen gas efficiently.
CONTINUOUS DESULFURIZATION PROCESS BASED ON METAL OXIDE-BASED REGENERABLE SORBENTS
A continuous desulfurization process and process system are described for removal of reduced sulfur species at gas stream concentrations in a range of from about 5 to about 5000 ppmv, using fixed beds containing regenerable sorbents, and for regeneration of such regenerable sorbents. The desulfurization removes the reduced sulfur species of hydrogen sulfide, carbonyl sulfide, carbon disulfide, and/or thiols and disulfides with four or less carbon atoms, to ppbv concentrations. In specific disclosed implementations, regenerable metal oxide-based sorbents are integrated along with a functional and effective process to control the regeneration reaction and process while maintaining a stable dynamic sulfur capacity. A membrane-based process and system is described for producing regeneration and purge gas for the desulfurization.
