VERSATILE PLANTS FOR CONVERTING BIOGAS INTO HIGH ADDED VALUE CHEMICALS
Plant for the conversion of biogas into a chemical product with a high added value, selected among methanol, dimethyl ether, formaldehyde, acetic acid by a process comprising the following steps: a) reforming by converting methane and carbon dioxide contained in the biogas into syngas, b) synthesis of methanol by using syngas from step a), b) synthesis of one of the aforesaid chemical products: formaldehyde, dimethyl ether or acetic acid by using methanol from step b) c) optional purification and separation of said chemical product, characterized in that the reaction section in which the steps b) and b) are carried out or a part of it is replaceable with a further and different whole section or section part, in order to obtain one of the aforesaid chemical products different from the one obtained before said substitution.
This plant can convert almost all or all the CO.sub.2 produced in biogas plants into CO and subsequently into one or more chemical products with a high added value with revenues comparable to, if not higher than, those of traditional plants only obtainable thanks to incentives.
The plant is energy self-sustainable thanks to the use of its effluents for the production of energy and heat.
CHEMICAL SYNTHESIS DEVICE
A chemical synthesis device includes a reaction vessel, a waste liquid tank and an intermediate container. A chemical is supplied to the reaction vessel. The waste liquid tank is configured to hold waste liquid discharged from the reaction vessel. The intermediate container has a smaller capacity than the waste liquid tank. The intermediate container is provided between the reaction vessel and the waste liquid tank, via a waste liquid pipe. The pressure of the intermediate container is adjusted to adjust the flow supplied to the reaction vessel and the flow discharged from the reaction vessel.
Method of driving an element of an active matrix EWOD device, a circuit, and an active matrix EWOD device
A method of driving an element of an active matrix electro-wetting on dielectric (AM-EWOD) device comprise applying a first alternating voltage to a reference electrode of the AM-EWOD device; and either (i) applying to the element electrode a second alternating voltage that has the same frequency as the first alternating voltage and that is out of phase with the first alternating voltage or (ii) holding the element electrode in a high impedance state. The effect of applying the second alternating voltage to the element electrode is to put the element in an actuated state in which the element is configured to actuate any liquid droplet present in the element, while the effect of holding the element electrode in the high impedance state is to put the element in a non-actuated state.
Apparatus and method for control of cell processing system
Disclosed herein are cell processing systems, devices, and methods thereof. A system for cell processing may comprise a plurality of instruments each independently configured to perform one or more cell processing operations upon a cartridge, and a robot capable of moving the cartridge between each of the plurality of instruments.
System, device and method for preparing tracers and transferring materials during radiosynthesis
A system, apparatus, and method for transferring chemical solutions and synthesizing a tracer. For transferring chemical solutions, the system comprises a primary container; a secondary container; a first line in communication with the primary container and the secondary container. The first line facilitates the flow of gas and/or liquid between the primary container and the secondary container. A valve located upstream of the secondary container and downstream of the primary container regulates flow within the first line; a second line in communication with the secondary container. For synthesizing a tracer, the system includes a source of a solution having a radionuclide. A first container has a tracer precursor and is in communication with the source of solution.
Automated purification and formulation device for radiopharmaceutical compounds
A device for purifying and formulating a radiopharmaceutical compound includes an automated purification subsystem that automates the loading of a sample into a sample loop for downstream purification via HPLC. A column selector valve is provided to select from one of a plurality of columns. Fractions can be collected as well as the desired product. The device includes an automated formulation subsystem that first sends the product to a dilution reservoir prior to being pneumatically pushed onto a solid phase extraction (SPE) cartridge. Automated rinse, elution, and reconstitution are also performed with the automated formulation subsystem. The device may be directly coupled to the output of an automated radiosynthesizer.
Heatseal
The present invention relates to systems and methods to facilitate replacement between runs of a kit or cassette from an automated radiosynthesis device located in a hot cell. The method and apparatus of the invention enable automated disconnection of the outlet line by sealing the tubing hermetically by means of heat and by cutting the tubing where it is sealed in such a way that there is no risk of environmental contamination with radioactive material. The invention enables disconnection of the outlet line without manual intervention before opening the shielded enclosure.
Piercing device
The present invention provides a system for the production of a radiopharmaceutical including a radiosynthesis apparatus and a disposable cassette. The system of the invention includes a device that enables a position on the cassette to be freed for inclusion of an additional reagent vial. With the system of the invention a broader range of radiochemical syntheses can be envisaged using the cassette.
Multiple identification point automated parameter assurance method
Systems and methods provide automated parameter assurance features and results for consumables used in bioprocessing and particularly for purifying, filtering, harvesting and collecting bioprocessing fluids. Consumables having these features are sized, shaped, configured and constructed to interface with and be a component of such a bioprocessing system that includes a multi-use component or device with which it operatively engages such as by docking, engagement with a connector or other approach that allows for insertion and removal of the consumable. The consumable may be a component having a single-use life or a limited life. Each consumable has a median by which information, which can include use limits and specifications, is associated with that specific consumable, and those limits and specifications are communicated to the multi-use component which indicates any inappropriateness for use with the multi-use component.
