A method of assembling a casket assembly includes folding a left end of one side panel toward a main body portion to form part of a head end of the casket assembly. The method also includes folding a right end of the side panel toward the main body portion to form part of a foot end of the casket assembly. Another side panel is folded the same way, and also forms part of both the head end and the foot end. The method includes arranging the first side panel and the second side panel within a base of the casket assembly, and removably coupling a lid of the casket assembly to the side panels.

A coffin, in particular for burial in the ground, includes a bottom, side walls, a lid, a mattress and collecting means capable of receiving vital fluids under the mattress. The coffin also has oxygen-storage means enabling oxygen to be introduced into the coffin, humidifying means and heating means so as to generate, over time, conditions which allow rapid decomposition of the body.

Edges of at least two of the first side, second side, and first end define a lid body bottom plane. The bridge extends downward from the lid body near or at the open end, and defines a concave opening extending above the lid body bottom plane.

A casket lid includes a lid body and a bridge formed from a folded corrugated paper blank. Caskets, cap panel assemblies for a casket, and methods for manufacturing cap panel assemblies are described. A casket may include a casket shell, at least one casket cap pivotally mounted on the casket shell, and a cap panel assembly mounted in the at least one casket cap. The cap panel assembly may include a cap panel, a puffing member attached to each edge of the cap panel, a cap panel insert positioned in-line with the cap panel, and a plurality of resilient members positioned on a front face of the cap panel insert. The plurality of resilient members may be tensioned, for example, to hold keepsakes, memorabilia, or other types of objects on or in the cap panel insert. The cap panel insert can include a mounting bracket or a screw and wire assembly for mounting the cap panel insert on a wall.

Caskets, cap panel assemblies for a casket, and methods for manufacturing cap panel assemblies are described. A casket may include a casket shell, at least one casket cap pivotally mounted on the casket shell, and a cap panel assembly mounted in the at least one casket cap. The cap panel assembly may include a cap panel, a puffing member attached to each edge of the cap panel, a cap panel insert positioned in-line with the cap panel, and a plurality of resilient members positioned on a front face of the cap panel insert. The plurality of resilient members may be tensioned, for example, to hold keepsakes, memorabilia, or other types of objects on or in the cap panel insert. The cap panel insert can include a mounting bracket or a screw and wire assembly for mounting the cap panel insert on a wall.

The present invention includes a method of conducting a funeral service by supplying a decal to a funereal attendee for inscribing a handwritten memorial and affixing the decal to a burial receptacle such as a casket or urn. Preferably, the decal has a textured surface with a background depiction and has an adhesive that allows the decal to be removable. A relatively small decal is preferred such that many may be placed on a casket or urn.

A collapsible casket viewing barrier includes a first transparent shield pivotally connected to a second transparent shield. The transparent shields are disposed within supporting frames that are connected via one or more hinges. Each supporting frame includes attached support legs, which may be telescopically adjustable and include wheels for easy transport. The first supporting frame and the second supporting frame are configured to move between a deployed configuration for use and a collapsed configuration for storage. When deployed during a funeral service, the collapsible casket viewing barrier can be positioned adjacent a casket such that the longer first transparent shield extends lengthwise along the casket while the shorter second transparent shield extends perpendicularly along the upper end of the casket. The casket is shielded in a way that allows individuals to view the deceased while reducing the transmission of germs.
