Refractory insert members and refractory block assembly including same
A refractory block assembly for a steam reformer furnace tunnel includes a hollow main body portion having at least one through-hole having openings formed in a first side and an opposed second side of the hollow main body portion. At least one refractory insert member, having mechanical mating features on at least a portion of the outer surface thereof, resides within at least one of the at least one through-hole of the hollow main body portion.
Pipe and device for thermally cleaving hydrocarbons
The invention relates to a pipe for thermal cracking of hydrocarbons in the presence of steam, in which the feed mixture is guided through externally heated pipes, wherein the pipe extends along a longitudinal axis and has a number N.sub.T of grooves that have been introduced into the inner surface of the pipe and extend in a helix around the longitudinal axis along the inner surface, the inner surface into which the grooves have been introduced, in a cross section at right angles to the longitudinal axis, has a diameter Di and a radius r.sub.1=Di/2, the grooves in the cross section at right angles to the longitudinal axis, in their groove base, each have the form of a circular arc and the circular arc has a radius r.sub.2, and
the grooves each have a groove depth TT which, in the cross section at right angles to the longitudinal axis, corresponds in each case to the smallest distance between the circle having the diameter Di on which the inner surface lies and the center of which lies on the longitudinal axis, and the furthest removed point of the groove base of the grooves from the longitudinal axis.
Method and apparatus for producing biofuel in an oscillating flow production line under supercritical fluid conditions.
The invention discloses a method for producing bio-fuel (BF) from a high-viscosity biomass using thermo-chemical conversion of the biomass in a production line (10) with pumping means (PM), heating means (HM) and cooling means (CM). The method has the steps of 1) operating the pumping means, the heating means and the cooling means so that the production line is under supercritical fluid conditions (SCF) to induce biomass conversion in a conversion zone (CZ) within the production line, and 2) operating the pumping means so that at least part of the production line is in an oscillatory flow (OF) mode. The invention is advantageous for providing an improved method for producing biofuel from a high-viscosity biomass. This is performed by an advantageous combination of two operating modes: supercritical fluid (SCF) conditions and oscillatory flow (OF).
METHOD TO CONVERT WASTE PLASTICS INTO VALUE-ADDED CHEMICALS USING MICROWAVE-ASSISTED CATALYSIS
In one aspect, the disclosure relates to a method for converting waste plastics into value-added products, the method including the steps of (a) contacting the waste plastics with a catalyst to form a reaction mixture and (b) applying microwave irradiation to the reaction mixture. In another aspect, disclosed herein are value-added products including, but not limited to, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons produced by the process disclosed herein. This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present disclosure.
Apparatus and method for preparing ethylene and/or acetylene using hydrocarbon
Equipment for producing ethylene and/or acetylene from hydrocarbons, including the reaction chamber (13), burner (11), common or separate fuel gas inlets (12) and oxygen inlets (18), preheating tubes (14), a gas distributor (15), cracking gas inlets (16), and a reaction product outlet (17); the gas distributor (15), which has multiple gas inlets and gas outlets, is arranged on the cross section of the reaction chamber (13), where the gas inlet is connected to the cracking gas inlet (16), and the gas outlet is connected to the preheating tube (14). The cracking gas is uniformly distributed through the gas distributor (15) and passed through the preheating tubes (14), which are hollow tubes; the opening at the other end of the hollow tube is close to or inserted into the combustion area of the gaseous fuel and oxygen.
MICROREACTOR SYSTEMS AND METHODS
In various embodiments, a microreactor features a corrosion-resistant microchannel network encased within a thermally conductive matrix material that may define therewithin one or more hollow heat-exchange conduits.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING THE PRODUCTION OF A HALOAMINE BIOCIDE
A method and apparatus for controlling the production of a haloamine biocide based on direct, in-process, measurement of the oxidant content to produce a desired haloamine biocide for the control of growth of microorganisms in aqueous systems, particularly in industrial water systems, is provided.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TREATMENT OF PLANTS FOR SYNTHESIS OF COMPOUNDS THEREFROM
Systems and methods for the treatment of plants, including decarboxylation, photo-oxidation, oxidation and/or combinations thereof, of cannabis and hemp plants and oils for biosynthesizing THCA, CBDA, and CBCA from CBGA are disclosed. A cannabinoid compound solution is fed into a cavitation zone of a controlled cavitation apparatus where the cannabinoid compound solution is subjected to cavitation and interaction with UV light for conversion of the cannabinoid compound solution to form a synthesized cannabinoid THC, CBD, CBC, CBG, CBNA, CBEA, CBLA product, or combinations thereof.
Heat exchange module
A heat exchange module including a corrugated top heat exchange substrate and a corrugated bottom heat exchange substrate, and tubes that extend in a width direction (W) between the top and bottom substrates in heat exchanging contact with ridges of the substrates. A top and a bottom casing member contacts the substrates and each has a transverse side wall with slits oriented in the transverse direction (T) and accommodating the tubes. The side walls of the top and bottom casing members overlap and are mutually connected by soldering or brazing.
