An apparatus is provided for installing a packing disk of a structured packing into a vessel of a material-exchange column. The apparatus comprises a separating device for separating the endless packing strip into individual packing sheets, a conveying device for conveying individual packing sheets to the vessel, to stack the individual packing sheets in the vessel to form the packing disk, and a measuring device designed to measure a preferably horizontal distance between two mutually opposite points of an internal contour of the vessel. The separating device is designed to separate individual packing sheets from the endless packing strip such that a respective length of the packing sheets is less than or equal to the measured distance. A central axis of the vessel is arranged horizontally in the apparatus.

PROCESS FOR INSTALLING A SECTION OF PACKING IN A CASING

A casing having at least one tubular wall extending in a longitudinal direction (L) between two longitudinal ends, and an inner face of which participates in delimiting a receptacle for the section of packing, the tubular wall participating in delimiting an input opening at one of its longitudinal ends, the casing comprising a base wall positioned at the longitudinal end opposite the input opening, the casing configured to be positioned horizontally during a process for installing a section of packing. The casing can also include a device configured to assist installation of a section of packing in the casing, wherein the device can include: a cradle which extends in an extension of at least part of the tubular wall from the input opening, in the longitudinal direction, opposite the base wall, the cradle being configured to position the section of packing facing the input opening; a removable cone which is configured to guide the section of packing by centring the said section of packing on the input opening, wherein the longitudinal dimension of the cradle is larger than the longitudinal dimension of the removable cone.

PACKING ASSEMBLY, MATERIAL EXCHANGE COLUMN, AND METHOD

The invention relates to a packing assembly for a material exchange column, comprising at least one structured packing plate and a container in which the at least one structured packing plate is arranged. The at least one structured packing plate has packing packets. Each packing packet has interconnected packing sheets. The packing sheets are corrugated and have corrugation peaks and corrugation valleys. Adjacent packing sheets contact each other at the corrugation peaks. Additional corrugated packing sheets are added between the packing packets such that the at least one packing plate is pretensioned against the container in a radial direction thereof. Both the corrugated packing sheets of the packing packets as well as the additional corrugated packing sheet added between the packing packets are arranged solely on a common preferred plane or parallel thereto.

ANNULAR DIVIDED WALL COLUMN FOR AN AIR SEPARATION UNIT

An annular divided wall column for the cryogenic rectification of air or constituents of air is provided. The annular divided wall column includes a first annular column wall and a second annular column wall disposed within the first annular column wall to define an annulus column region and an interior core column region. The present annular divided wall column further includes structured packing elements disposed within at least the annulus column region as well as a ring-shaped cantilevered collector; and a ring-shaped distributor disposed in the annulus column region above or below the plurality of structured packing elements. The thermal expansion and contraction of the second annular column wall in a radial direction and in an axial direction is independent of the thermal expansion and contraction of the first annular column wall in the radial and axial directions.

The present invention relates to a packing element for a structured packing including at least two adjacent corrugated sheets, wherein each of the corrugated sheets has a plurality of alternately oriented peaks and troughs, wherein adjacent corrugated sheets are oriented such that the corrugations of the adjacent corrugated sheets intersect in crisscross fashion with the corrugations of the corrugated sheets extending obliquely relative to the vertical direction, wherein each corrugated sheet contacts each of the adjacent corrugated sheets at points of intersection between the corrugations of the corrugated sheet and those of the adjacent corrugated sheets, wherein all corrugated sheets are tied together by means of at least one rod, wherein the at least one rod penetrates the corrugated sheets perpendicularly to the longitudinal section of the corrugated sheets, wherein on the at least one rod before the first corrugated sheet of the packing element and/or after the last corrugated sheet of the packing element at least one mounting clip is provided for fixing the corrugated sheets on the rod, wherein the mounting clip has a central part forming a coupling portion for coupling the mounting clip to the rod and two opposing lateral parts forming a clamping portion for a clamping engagement with the corrugated sheet, wherein the lateral parts are connected with the central part and angled with respect to the central part.
