Method for Preparing Anhydrosugar Alcohol Using Two-Step Hydrothermal Reaction

A method for producing anhydrosugar alcohol according to the present invention can increase the yield of anhydrosugar alcohol even in the absence of a catalyst or in the presence of a small amount of a transition metal salt catalyst by controlling the temperature of a high-temperature reaction, which converts sugar alcohol to anhydrosugar alcohol, in two steps, that is, a first low-temperature reaction step and a second high-temperature reaction step.

Silica-coated alumina activator-supports for metallocene catalyst compositions

Silica-coated alumina activator-supports, and catalyst compositions containing these activator-supports, are disclosed. Methods also are provided for preparing silica-coated alumina activator-supports, for preparing catalyst compositions, and for using the catalyst compositions to polymerize olefins.

Catalyst for hydrogenation of carbonyl compound and alcohol production method

Provided is a catalyst including a metal component including a first component that is rhenium and one or more second components selected from the group consisting of silicon, gallium, germanium, and indium and a carrier on which the metal component is supported, the carrier including an oxide of a metal belonging to Group 4 of the periodic table. Also provided is an alcohol production method in which a carbonyl compound is treated using the above catalyst. It is possible to produce an alcohol by a hydrogenation reaction of a carbonyl compound with high selectivity and high efficiency while reducing side reactions.

Process for preparation of highly coordinated sulfated mixed metal oxide catalyst having high crushing strength

The present invention provides a process of preparing a high coordination sulfated mixed metal oxide catalyst. The process comprises mixing specific ratios of alumina and zirconia mixtures at specific particle size limits which do not exceed 37 μm, in the presence of a combination of α-amino acids, i.e., non-polar side chains and basic side chains having molecular weight less than 250, nitric acid (HNO3) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4) at a pH range of 1.5 to 3.8 at temperatures below 30° C. The catalysts have a high conversion towards hydrocarbon isomerization reaction while concurrently having crushing strength in range of 2.0 daN and 5.0 daN, allowing for efficient commercial application.
