The apparatus may include a scale platform, a warming therapy device comprising a bassinet and at least one electrical device, the warming therapy device being disposed on the scale platform, the scale platform disposed between the warming therapy device and the base; and a conductor assembly adapted to (a) supply electrical power between a power supply and at least some of the at least one electrical device, and (b) enable the transmission of electrical signals from the at least one electrical device to the computer system, the conductor assembly comprising a scale platform cable assembly comprising a plurality of conductors, the scale platform cable assembly having a first connector end and a second connector end, the first connector end being rigidly affixed to the load cell carrier and the second connector end being rigidly affixed to the scale platform cover.

Patient support apparatuses with reconfigurable communication

A patient support apparatus includes a frame, support surface, cable interface, switches, a location detector, and a controller. The switches are electrically coupled to the interface and the controller selects a configuration for the plurality of switches based on a current location of the patient support apparatus within a healthcare facility. Alternatively or additionally, a user interface may display a plurality of identifiers that each identifies a predefined configuration for the switches wherein the controller configures the switches according to an identifier selected by the user. A transceiver on board the patient support apparatus may communicate with different fixed transmitters and the controller may implement different switch configurations based on messages from the different fixed transmitters.

Display Of Monitored Patient Position Information

A system for monitoring medical conditions including pressure ulcers, pressure-induced ischemia and related medical conditions comprises at least one sensor adapted to detect one or more patient characteristic including at least position, orientation, temperature, acceleration, moisture, resistance, stress, heart rate, respiration rate, and blood oxygenation, a host for processing the data received from the sensors together with historical patient data to develop an assessment of patient condition and suggested course of treatment, including either suspending or adjusting turn schedule based on various types of patient movement. The sensor can include one or more of bi-axial or tri-axial accelerometers, magnetometers and altimeters as well as resistive, inductive, capacitive, magnetic and other sensing devices, depending on whether the sensor is located on the patient or the support surface, and for what purpose. In some embodiments, the sensor can be self-contained in that it can detect orientation and suggest repositioning independent of a host.

Incontinence detection pad validation apparatus and method

An incontinence detection pad has an RFID tag in which an authentication code, such as an electronic product code (EPC), is stored. A reader in wireless communication with the RFID tag of the incontinence detection pad verifies that the incontinence detection pad is an authorized detection pad. Thus, unauthorized incontinence detection pads that do not have the proper authentication code are not able to be used in an incontinence detection system.
