Methods and devices for tele-surgical table registration

Methods and systems for registering a manipulator assembly and independently positionable surgical table are provided herein. In one aspect, methods include attaching a registration device to a particular location of the surgical table and attaching a manipulator arm of the manipulator assembly to the registration device and determining a position and/or orientation of the surgical table relative the manipulator assembly using joint state sensor readings from the manipulator arm. In another aspect, methods for registration include tracking of one or more optical or radio markers with a sensor associate with the manipulator assembly to determine a spatial relationship between the surgical table and manipulator assembly.

Patient support apparatus having vital signs monitoring and alerting

A patient support apparatus includes a sensor capable of detecting vital signs, setting acceptable limits for the vital signs, and includes structures for monitoring the vital signs and providing local and/or remote indications to caregivers if the vital signs fall outside of acceptable limits.

MRI TRANSPORTER APPARATUS AND METHODS

A smart system and methods for coupling a medical transporter apparatus with an imaging apparatus, involving: a smart docking module comprising at least one coupler responsive to a controller operable by a set of executable instructions, the smart docking module comprising a non-magnetic material; and the smart docking module configured by the controller to automatically perform at least one of: position, dock, engage, latch, lock, interlock, release, emergency-release, quick-release, disengage, emergency-disengage, and quick-disengage the medical transporter apparatus in relation to the imaging apparatus.

Sensor for absorbent article

An absorbent structure, including a sensor system, can sense and measure the level of wetness contained within the absorbent structure as well as sense and measure environmental conditions. The sensor system may include passive RFID sensors or tags, RFID readers, antenna, a tuning module, a processing module, a memory module and a wireless communication module. The absorbent structure may further include two or more sensors, with a first sensor placed in a first area most likely to first be exposed to liquid and a second sensor spaced apart from the first sensor in an area likely to be exposed to liquid only after the absorbent structure has become more saturated.

Patient Support Apparatus Control Systems

A patient support apparatus including a support deck with a support surface and a deck section configured to move between a first position and a second position, a barrier to limit egress from the support surface operatively attached to the deck section for concurrent movement, and a user interface coupled to the barrier and configured to receive input from a user. The user interface includes a screen to display visual content to the user, and an input device to generate an input signal in response to receiving user input. An orientation sensor determines an orientation of the screen based on movement of the deck section between the first position and the second position. A controller is configured to perform a function in response to receiving the input signal, and maintain a predetermined orientation of the visual content displayed on the screen as the screen moves with the deck section.

AUTOMATED ADJUSTMENTS FOR PATIENT SUPPORT APPARATUS
20210346221 · 2021-11-11 ·

An automated system and methods are provided for coordinating a transfer of a patient between patient support apparatuses. The method can include establishing communication between a transferring patient support apparatus and a receiving patient support apparatus. The method can further include adjusting a position of at least one of the receiving patient support apparatus and the transferring patient support apparatus. The method can include locating and aligning the receiving patient support apparatus adjacent the transferring patient support apparatus.

SMART BED SYSTEM
20210345968 · 2021-11-11 ·

Described herein is a smart bed system, which includes a number of different elements that operate together or may operate independently in connection with an existing conventional bed frame and/or mattress. Bed system includes an inclinable bed apparatus, which is configured to be situated on an existing bed frame or mattress and provide selective inclining/reclining of a patient or user. A sensor mat system is adapted to be situated on mattress. Sensor mat system includes a plurality of different layers to sense the position and movement of a patient. An inflatable bladder system includes a plurality of inflatable cells for selectively adjusting the position or pressure experienced by a patient using bed system. A support rail system supports a user in a bed. A microcontroller performs various control and data processing operations associated with system. User input for various controls of system may be provided from a remote control, which is in data communication with microcontroller.

INCONTINENCE DETECTION SYSTEMS FOR HOSPITAL BEDS

An incontinence detection system monitors an area for moisture events and wirelessly transmits moisture-related information to one or more notification devices. The system has a pad that includes a substrate and one or more sensors supported by the substrate. The sensor(s) emit wireless signals indicative of the moisture-related information. A sensor event communication system forwards the sensor signals to another device, such as a notification device. Portions of the system are included in a patient support apparatus, such as a bed.

MOTION-BASED POWER ASSIST SYSTEM FOR WHEELCHAIRS
20210338500 · 2021-11-04 ·

A motion-based push activation power assist system for manual wheelchairs. The system uses motion-based measurements to determine when the user applies a push to the wheelchair handrims and brakes with the handrims. The push recognition activates a drive system that provides an assistive driving force-pulse to the wheelchair to reduce the demand on the user during propulsion. The brake recognition deactivates the power assist. The provided power assist is proportional to the sensed push and can be modulated to different proportional settings.

Patient lift and sling having wireless communication

A person lift system includes a motor and a sling bar coupled to the motor. The sling bar includes a first attachment hook at a first end region of the sling bar and a second attachment hook at a second end region of the sling bar. A sling includes a main body section and a plurality of loops coupled to the main body section. Each of the plurality of loops is configured to attach to one of the plurality of attachment hooks. A first electronic reader is coupled to the sling bar near the first attachment hook. A second electronic reader is coupled to the sling bar near the second attachment hook. Each of a plurality of short range wireless tags is coupled to a respective one of the plurality of loops.
