Incontinence detection pad validation apparatus and method

An incontinence detection pad has an RFID tag in which an authentication code, such as an electronic product code (EPC), is stored. A reader in wireless communication with the RFID tag of the incontinence detection pad verifies that the incontinence detection pad is an authorized detection pad. Thus, unauthorized incontinence detection pads that do not have the proper authentication code are not able to be used in an incontinence detection system.

Patient support systems and methods for assisting caregivers with patient care

A patient support system for providing customized user menus. The system comprises a patient support apparatus, a user interface configured to receive input from a user, and a display configured to display user menus or information. The user menus may comprise indicia representative of the operational functions of the patient support apparatus. A controller determines the customized user menu based on usage characteristics, a position of the user interface in proximity to the patient support apparatus, a location of the user interface within a facility, an identification of the user, and/or a patient condition. A touchscreen and/or a mobile device may comprise the user interface and the display. The mobile device may be removably coupled to the patient support apparatus. Methods for improving patient care by providing the customized user menu are also disclosed.

OPERATING ROOM WIRELESS POWER TRANSFER

SA surgical room power system including at least one source of power wired to a power source for a surgical room, the at least one source of power being wired to the surgical room; at least one power receiver; and a surgical power consumer wired to the at least one power receiver, the surgical power consumer being configured to assist a surgeon during a surgical procedure on a patient. The at least one source of power wirelessly transfers power to the at least one power receiver for powering the surgical power consumer.

Multimodality Medical Procedure Mattress-Based Device

A mattress system is provided that is optimized for the hospital setting and includes a guiderail system that accepts a variety of accessories for attachment thereto. The guiderail system may have integrated data lines, power lines, gas lines, and/or fluid lines. A customizable memorabilia cover has front and back substantially rectangular leafboard members coupled to a spine member. Elastic bands may be coupled one each at the distal and proximal ends of the elastic bands substantially to the outer corners of the rectangular leafboard members. The elastic bands are disposed acutely from the edges of the rectangular leafboard members and designed to receive the corners of a book cover of a book therethrough, the book contained within the front and back leafboard members substantially abutted by the spine member. At least one groove member of the front leafboard member has a closed base and closed side members. A substantially transparent cover member is contiguously coupled to a top portion of the side members to define an ash container assembly. An alternative embodiment includes a covering or enclosing member that holds an electronic handheld device removably coupled to the back leafboard member.

Incontinence detection systems for hospital beds

An incontinence detection system monitors an area for moisture events and wirelessly transmits moisture-related information to one or more notification devices. The system has a pad that includes a substrate and one or more sensors supported by the substrate. The sensor(s) emit wireless signals indicative of the moisture-related information. A sensor event communication system forwards the sensor signals to another device, such as a notification device. Portions of the system are included in a patient support apparatus, such as a bed.

Method and apparatus for table accessory detection

An accessory detection apparatus for a modular medical device includes a support portion and at least one support accessory in connection with the support portion via a connection interface. The connection interface is configured to support the at least one support accessory extending from the support portion. The accessory detection apparatus includes at least one detection device in connection with a first portion of the connection interface and at least one identifier element in connection with a second portion of the connection interface. The apparatus further includes a controller in communication with the at least one detection device. The controller is configured to process at least one signal communicated from the at least one detection device and detect an identifier of at least one support accessory in response to the at least one signal.

PATIENT SUPPORT APPARATUS

A patient support apparatus includes a base frame, lift mechanism supporting an upper frame relative to the base frame, a load frame, and a plurality of deck sections, a patient support surface, and a number of barriers positioned about the patient supporting surface. The patient support apparatus includes a notification system for visually notifying a caregiver of a condition or status of a component of the patient support apparatus.

Methods and devices for tele-surgical table registration

Methods and systems for registering a manipulator assembly and independently positionable surgical table are provided herein. In one aspect, methods include attaching a registration device to a particular location of the surgical table and attaching a manipulator arm of the manipulator assembly to the registration device and determining a position and/or orientation of the surgical table relative the manipulator assembly using joint state sensor readings from the manipulator arm. In another aspect, methods for registration include tracking of one or more optical or radio markers with a sensor associate with the manipulator assembly to determine a spatial relationship between the surgical table and manipulator assembly.
