Disclosed are metal oxide catalysts, and methods for their use, that includes a bulk metal oxide catalyst composed of at least two metals and nesosilicate. The catalyst is capable of catalyzing the carbon dioxide reforming of methane to produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide.

A particulate desulfurization material includes one or more copper compounds supported on a zinc oxide support material, wherein the desulfurization material has a copper content in the range 0.1 to 5.0% by weight and a tapped bulk density 1.55 kg/l. The material is obtained by (i) mixing a powdered copper compound with a particulate zinc support material comprising zinc oxide and one or more precursors that form zinc oxide upon calcination, and one or more binders to form a copper-containing composition, (ii) shaping the copper-containing composition by granulation, and (iii) drying and calcining the resulting granulated material.

A granular catalyst may be used for hydrolyzing amino nitriles and/or amino amides to amino acids or derivatives thereof. A process for preparing such a catalyst and a method for preparing an amino acid or derivative thereof may include contacting a solution or suspension including an amino nitrile and/or an amino amide with water in the presence of such a catalyst or in the presence of a catalyst obtained by such a process.

A molecular sieve blend with improved performance characteristics produced by preparing or obtaining a hydrophilic zeolite, particularly a hydrophilic zeolite A with a low SiO.sub.2:Al.sub.2O.sub.3 ratio, preparing or obtaining a hydrophobic silicon based binder, particularly a hydrophobic colloidal silica or a hydrophobic siloxane based material, mixing the zeolite with the silicon based binder and, in one embodiment, a seed containing small quantities of a clay binding agent and the zeolite, to form a mixture, and forming the mixture into the molecular sieve blend.

This catalyst for liquefied petroleum gas synthesis includes a CuZn based catalytic material and an MFI type zeolite catalytic material supporting Pt, the CuZn based catalytic material containing copper oxide, zinc oxide, aluminium oxide, and zirconium oxide, a mass (M(ZrO.sub.2)) of zirconium oxide in the CuZn based catalytic material being more than 0 mass % and 6.5 mass % or less based on a mass (M1) of the CuZn based catalytic material, and the MFI type zeolite catalytic material containing more than 0 mass % and less than 4.5 mass % of P.
