Therapeutic bed or gurney for thermal diagnosis and treatment of a human
The described apparatuses, devices, and mechanisms are configured to measure the temperature of one or more Abreu brain thermal tunnel (ABTT) terminuses. In addition, some embodiments are configured to provide treatment for the diagnosed conditions and diseases.
Temperature-regulating stretcher support
A temperature-regulating support includes a head part and a body part that are coupled to one another, at least one temperature-regulating layer, and a support layer. The at least one temperature-regulating layer has a battery as a power supply. The battery is arranged in a compartment of the support, and the battery is capable of being removed from the compartment and can be inserted into the compartment.
Thermal comfort wheelchair backrest
A backrest for a wheelchair or other mobility device configured to provide user controllable cooling and heat to the wheelchair user's back. The cooling element includes a Peltier chip, heat sink and gel pad for user contact. The heating element includes heating wire interposed between the fabric cover and the compressible foam of the backrest cushioning. The cooling element and heating element both move with the movement of the fabric cover so as to provide good heat conduction contact without adversely affecting cushioning. The backrest includes a tillable mount.
Microclimate system for a patient support apparatus
According to the present disclosure, a microclimate system includes a topper and an air box. The topper is configured to conduct air along a surface of the topper so that heat and moisture from a patient lying on the topper are drawn away from the surface. The air box includes a blower coupled to the topper to provide air to the topper to be conducted along the surface of the topper. The air box may also include an environmental sensor unit coupled configured to detect environmental information corresponding to the environment around the microclimate system.
SUPPORT SURFACE USEFUL LIFE MONITORING
A patient support apparatus includes a frame, a support surface, and a sensor. The frame and the support surface cooperate to support a patient. The sensor is coupled to one of the frame and the support surface and is configured to provide an input signal indicative of usage of the support surface by the patient.
INTEGRATION OF DISTRIBUTED THERMOELECTRIC HEATING AND COOLING
A thermoelectric device comprising an elongated panel, formed of a thermally insulating material, and having a plurality of thermoelectric elements comprising compacted conductors inside the insulating material and expanded conductors outside the insulating material wherein the thermoelectric elements run substantially parallel to or at an acute angle relative to the long dimension of the panel. The thermoelectric device may be integrated into a variety of surfaces or enclosures needing heating or cooling with controls and configurations to optimize the application.
MULTI-ZONE TEMPERATURE MODULATION SYSTEM FOR BED OR BLANKET
A temperature modulation system for a bed, blanket, or other furniture includes a fluid for moderating temperature change, a number of conduit circuits for directing the fluid through respective zones, a control unit including a thermoelectric device for modulating temperature of the fluid, and a pump. Each of the conduit circuits selectively and independently directs fluid through its respective zone in order to produce a temperature within the zone that is independent of the temperature outside the zone. The system also includes an arrangement of one or more zones in an arrangement in which the control unit is programmed to vary the zone
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REGULATING TEMPERATURES AROUND EXTREMITIES
The present disclosure generally relates to systems and methods for regulating temperatures around an extremity of a subject. For example, the subject may be a subject having neuropathy, or other conditions in which control of the temperature around the extremity may be beneficial. For example, one aspect is generally directed to a device for regulating temperatures. The device can be used to surround an extremity, such as a hand or foot. The device may include a frame in which the extremity is located, and optionally fabric or other material draped around at least portion of the frame. These may be positioned so as to avoid contact with the extremity. Air may be distributed in an interior region within the frame, e.g., to regulate the temperature therein. In addition, in some cases, aromatic substances such as essential oils may be present in the interior region. Other aspects are generally directed to regulating the temperature of an extremity of a subject, e.g., a subject having neuropathy or other conditions. In some cases, this may be controlled by the subject. Yet other aspects are directed to methods of making such devices, kits involving such devices, or the like.
Automated air mattress bed system
A mattress assembly includes: multiple gas-filled chambers each having a top surface, the top surfaces of the chambers collectively composing a top surface of the mattress assembly; multiple composite sensors each associated with a corresponding chamber. Each composite sensor includes a pressure sensor to measure a pressure at a wall of the corresponding chamber and a temperature sensor to measure a temperature of the corresponding chamber. The assembly includes chamber regulators each in communication with a corresponding chamber, each regulator configured to pump gas at a first, higher temperature and gas at a second temperature to the corresponding chamber. The assembly includes a controller in communication with the composite sensors and chamber regulators, programmed to: receive, from composite sensor(s), state data including pressure and temperature information for the chamber corresponding to the composite sensor; determine, based upon the received state data, information about a patient's position relative to the corresponding chamber; and based on the patient's position, control the chamber regulator for the chamber to modify a pressure and/or a temperature of the chamber.
System for cooling a hyperbaric chamber
A system for cooling a hyperbaric chamber includes a compressor, a first hose, a cooling unit, a second hose, and a hyperbaric chamber. The first hose fluidly connects the compressor to the cooling unit, and the second hose fluidly connects the cooling units to the hyperbaric chamber. Compressed air from the compressor travels through a first pressure relief fitting and a second pressure relief fitting, where the compressed air is depressurized according to the system requirements. During the depressurization, the compressed air cools down because of the depressurization and creates a comfortable environment within the hyperbaric chamber.
