One form of the device 2 comprises depthwise front to back treatment elements 6 with multiple extending ridges 10a, 10b, 12a, 12b, 14a, and 14b located in spaced apart side by side relationship extending substantially in parallel from, at or towards the front edge 16 of treatment element 6 to the back edge 18 of treatment element 6 with a relatively gentle sloping curve in their front 16 portion and a more pronounced curve in their back 18 portion for providing less or more pressure to the cervical (neck) facet joints respectively when lying on the device supine. The multiple ridges 10a, 10b, 12a, 12b, 14a, and 14b on the treatment elements are arranged concavely in front view to uniformly match the convex shape of the head and neck, and arranged to extend outwardly in profile from the device 2, treatment element portion or chair to an extent to direct therapeutic forces directly onto the cervical (neck) facet joints and neck muscles of a person using the device to mobilise the facet joints and massage the muscles of the neck of the user replicating treatment provided by a physical therapist by relieving pain, reducing joint stiffness, muscle tightness and tension, to the neck of a person and also relieve neck-related headaches.
MITT FOR COMPRESSION GARMENTS
A wraparound portion of compression garments may include a mitt defining a mitt opening. A user may place their hand in the mitt opening of the mitt to assist in donning the compression garments about their body. For example, the wraparound portion of the compression garment may be located in awkward position for a human user to grasp, and the mitt and mitt opening may assist a user in grasping and moving the wraparound portion about their body.
MASSAGING APPARATUS AND CHAIR MASSAGER EQUIPPED WITH THE MASSAGING APPARATUS
There are provided a massaging apparatus capable of providing comfortable kneading and massaging effects and reducing damage to a cover covering massaging elements, and a chair massager having the massaging apparatus.
The massaging apparatus comprises horizontally arranged paired massaging members (10,11) having massaging elements (91 to 94) and a massaging mechanism (12) for producing kneading action by operating at least one of the massaging members (10,11) so that the massaging elements (91 to 94) have horizontal approaching-separating movement. The massaging member (10,11) includes an arm member (15,16) extending in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of approaching-separating movement. The massaging element (91 to 94) is attached to the tip of the arm member (15,16) for rotation about the axis of an extension line (L) extending along the extending direction of the arm member (15,16) and about an axis pointing in a direction substantially perpendicular to the extension line (L).
Combined Exercise and Massage Device
An exercise and massage device utilizes a substantially spherical body having a central cavity that extends to opposite sides of the spherical body so that the cavity forms openings on opposite sides of the spherical body. A transverse handle is positioned within the cavity that extends across the cavity. At least one grasping portion is located within the cavity and is spaced between the transverse handle and at least one of the openings of the central cavity to provide a fingerhold during use. A resilient outer layer surrounds the spherical body and provides an exterior surface of the spherical body. The resilient outer layer is provided with projections to facilitate massage when used in the massage mode when the device is used in a massage mode. The device is weighted to provide a total weight of from 2 lbs or more. In another embodiments of an exercise and massage device at least one ring member is encased within the spherical body to provide at least one of weight and structural support to the device.
Foot compression and electrical stimulation system
Systems configured to apply pressure to a foot and electrically stimulate muscles to contract in order to increase circulation and facilitate removal of metabolic waste, and related methods, are disclosed. One exemplary embodiment comprises an actuator that repeatedly compresses the bottom of a foot and an electrical muscle stimulator that repeatedly sends electrical pulses to a muscle to facilitate a muscle contraction. The system may also include a compression garment, such as a compression sock to be worn while undergoing both the repeated compression cycles and the repeated electrical pulses. The system may also include an item of footwear, wherein the actuator portion is partially or completely contained within the item of footwear. Additionally and/or alternatively, the electrical muscle stimulator may be partially or completely contained within the item of footwear.
Apparatus for Minimally-Invasive Prevention and Treatment of Hydrocephalus and Method for Use of Same
An apparatus for minimally-invasive, including non-invasive, prevention and/or treatment of hydrocephalus and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment of the apparatus, a housing is sized for superjacent contact with a skull having a fontanel. Within the housing, a compartment includes a pressure applicator, such as a fluid-filled bladder, under the control of a pressure regulator. The pressure applicator is configured to selectively apply an external pressure to the fontanel. The compartment includes a pressure sensor configured to measure intracranial pulse pressure of the fontanel. Further, in one embodiment, the apparatus can cause pulse pressure modulation by adjusting the intracranial pulse pressure via the pressure applicator. This enables a non-invasive measurement of the pulse pressure and modulation thereof in infants, for example.
CPR CHEST COMPRESSION DEVICE WITH RELEASABLE BASE MEMBER
A CPR device having a base member configured to be placed underneath a patient, a chest compression mechanism configured to deliver CPR chest compressions to the patient, a support leg configured to support the chest compression mechanism at a distance from the base member, a clamp mechanism coupled to the support leg, and a release mechanism coupled to the support leg and the clamp mechanism. The clamp mechanism is configured to attach the support leg to a lock component of the base member in a latch-closed configuration and to release the support leg from the lock component in a latch-open configuration. The clamp mechanism is further configured to transition from the latch-closed configuration to the latch-open configuration when the lock component of the base member impacts an external portion of the clamp mechanism without the release mechanism being pulled away from the base member.
Therapeutic pillow
The present invention provides devices for neck support and correction, for example, pillows, headrests, or cushions, designed to be placed under the head and neck of a person lying in a supine or side-lying position. Such devices are useful for maintaining or improving cervical and/or thoracic spinal curvature and/or alignment and for reducing pain associated with ailments of the neck or cervical vertebrae. Also provided are methods of improving cervical spinal alignment and for treating or ameliorating ailments of the neck or cervical vertebrae.
Tissue treatment methods
Methods are provided herein for affecting a region of a subject's body, comprising exposing the region to a cooling element under conditions effective to cool subcutaneous adipose tissue in said region; and increasing the blood flow rate to the cooled tissue by exposing the tissue to an energy source. Methods are also provided for treating subcutaneous adipose tissue in a region of a subject's body, comprising exposing said region to a cooling element under conditions effective to cool said tissue; and exposing the tissue to an energy source to increase the blood flow rate to the cooled tissue, thereby stimulating reperfusion in, and/or causing an ischemia-reperfusion injury to, the cooled tissue.
