POROUS MOLDING, GEL MOLDING AND FILTER
To provide a porous molding that can be used as a molding that has sufficient strength to be self-supportable even when the dimensions change due to absorbing water and that can be suitably used as a filter for removing impurities in a liquid or gas. A porous molding is achieved by sintering a mixed powder including a dried gel powder and a thermoplastic resin powder, wherein the ratio of average particle diameter d.sub.1 of the thermoplastic resin powder to the average particle diameter d.sub.2 of the dried gel powder d.sub.2/d.sub.1 is 1.3 or greater, and the difference ratio of average particle diameter d.sub.1 of the thermoplastic resin powder to the average particle diameter d.sub.2 of the dried gel powder and the average particle diameter d.sub.3 of the dried gel powder when absorbing water and swelling is (d.sub.3−d.sub.2)/d.sub.1 is 4.0 or less.
SOLAR-POWERED WATER PURIFICATION AND DECONTAMINATION GEL COMPOSITIONS
The present technology relates to present technology relates to materials, methods, processes and systems for clean water production—in particular, to unique hydrogels that can purify and decontaminate water, providing an effective and sustainable way to turn contaminated water into potable water. The present technology also contemplates methods of making such gels, methods of purifying water and providing purified water from contaminated water, and contemplates systems for accomplishing water purification in a rapid, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable way.
PARTICULATE WATER-ABSORBENT RESIN COMPOSITION, ABSORBENT BODY AND ABSORBENT ARTICLE
A particulate water-absorbent resin composition is provided which can suppress the odor of trimethylamine in addition to the odor of acetaldehyde, in other words, which can simultaneously suppress complex odors. In this particulate water-absorbent resin composition, which contains a hydrazide compound support and a particulate water-absorbent resin, the median particle diameter of the particulate water-absorbent resin is 100-600 m.
WATER ABSORBENT RESIN PARTICLES, ABSORBENT, ABSORBENT ARTICLE AND LIQUID SUCTION POWER MEASUREMENT METHOD
Disclosed is water-absorbent resin particles, in which a value of non-pressurization DW after 3 minutes is 14 ml/g or more, and a value of liquid suction power after 3 minutes measured by the following method is 11 ml/g or more. A liquid suction power measurement method: 0.3 g of the water-absorbent resin particles is uniformly dispersed in a cylindrical container having a mesh-like bottom and having an inner diameter of 26 mm; the cylindrical container is placed in a container containing 40 g of a physiological saline solution, the water-absorbent resin particles are caused to absorb the physiological saline solution for 30 minutes from the bottom of the cylindrical container, and thereby a swollen gel is obtained; and non-pressurization DW, which is measured in a state where another 0.3 g of the water-absorbent resin particles is uniformly dispersed on the swollen gel in the cylindrical container, is defined as liquid suction power.
IONIC COMPOUND AND COMPOSITION THEREOF FOR HYDROPHOBIC PROTEIN EXTRACTION; AND ANTI-NONSPECIFIC PROTEIN ADSORPTION ZWITTERIONIC COMPOUND AND ELEMENT WITH ANTI-NONSPECIFIC PROTEIN ADSORPTION LAYER COMPRISING THE SAME
Provided is an ionic compound, which can be formulated into an ionic solution for extracting hydrophobic proteins. The ionic solution is free of alcohol and thus advantageous for later examinations. Also provided is an anti-nonspecific protein adsorption zwitterionic compound, which can be coated on a substrate to form an anti-nonspecific protein adsorption element.
CHIRAL SEPARATION OF delta8-THC, delta9-THC, AND RELATED ENANTIOMERS USING CO2-BASED CHROMATOGRAPHY
The present disclosure generally relates to methods for separating Δ.sup.8-THC, Δ.sup.9-THC, and related enantiomers using CO.sub.2-based chromatography.
PROCESS FOR FILTRATION ENHANCEMENT OF AQUEOUS DISPERSIONS
A method for enhancing filtration performance in separating solids from liquids in an aqueous dispersion comprising a solids phase and a liquid phase in a two-step process having a physical separation step and a filtration step comprising adding at least one filtration aid promoter and at least one synthetic polymer to the aqueous dispersion during and/or before the physical separation step resulting in a liquid-solid separation and filtering the liquid from the solid. The method may be applied in mining operations for the filtering of mining slurries.
SCALABLE PREPARATION OF OXYGEN CARRIERS FOR CHEMICAL LOOPING
Oxygen carriers for chemical looping and scalable methods of preparation thereof. Wet impregnation of active metal precursors into porous substrates, together with selective adsorption of the precursors on the pore surfaces, enables transition metal oxides derived from the precursors to disperse throughout the substrate, even at the nanoscale, without increased sintering or agglomeration. The porous substrate can be an oxide, for example SiO.sub.2. The oxygen carriers can comprise relatively large oxide loadings of over about 20 wt % and exhibit high reactivity over many regeneration cycles with substantially no loss in oxygen transport capacity or decrease in kinetics. The use of multiple transition metals, for example NiO in addition to CuO, can greatly enhance chemical looping performance.
Detachable Module for Recharging Sorbent Materials with Optional ByPass
A detachable module for optionally recharging sorbent materials, including zirconium phosphate, with an optional bypass and conduits for a sorbent cartridge. The sorbent cartridge can have one or more modules contained therein having connectors connecting each of the modules. One or more of the modules can be reusable and the sorbent materials therein recharged.
Metal-organic frameworks
The present invention relates to compounds capable of forming metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), particularly f-block metal MOFs which selectively sorb one component (e.g. para-xylene) from a mixture of components (e.g. m-/p-xylene mixture). The invention also relates to methods of producing and using said compounds.
