Method of controlling walking assistance device and electronic device performing the method
A method for controlling an ankle-type walking assistance device may include measuring an angle of a joint of the walking assistance apparatus, calculating an angular velocity and a linear velocity of a frame of the walking assistance device using an inertial measurement unit (IMU) attached to the frame, generating a dynamics model for the walking assistance device based on the angle of the joint, the angular velocity and the linear velocity of the frame, calculating a disturbance applied to the walking assistance device based on the dynamics model, and controlling the walking assistance device based on the calculated force, equivalent, or wrench.
Convertible wheelchair
A convertible wheelchair is provided. The convertible wheelchair can have a wheelchair configuration and a walker configuration to allow a user to alternately sit and stand, and can include a frame supporting a chair. The chair can be foldable and can include a chair back and a chair seat. The convertible wheelchair can include support and stability mechanisms accessible in the wheelchair configuration and the walker configuration including one or more torso supports, a fall seat, and stability bars.
SOLE STRUCTURE FOR ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR AND ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR
A sole structure for an article of footwear having an upper. The sole structure includes an outsole having a ground-engaging surface and an upper surface formed on an opposite side of the outsole than the ground-engaging surface. The sole structure also includes a midsole attached to the outsole and including an outer perimeter surface extending between the outsole and the upper. The sole structure further includes a plate disposed at least partially within the midsole and extending (i) from a forefoot region of the sole structure, (ii) through a metatarsophalangeal (MTP) point of the sole structure, and (iii) toward a heel region of the sole structure. The plate includes a first plate portion extending from the outer perimeter surface of the midsole.
Compliant Mechanism for Improving Axial Load Sensing in Robotic Actuators
An embodiment includes an exoskeleton robotic system including: a first linkage; a bearing coupled to the first linkage; a joint including a motor configured to move the first linkage along the bearing; an axial load sensor configured to sense an axial force transmitted to the axial load sensor via the joint, the axial force including one of tension or compression but not torque; a bracket including first and second bracket locations and first and second arms; and a housing that includes at least part of the joint and which couples the bracket to the bearing. The bracket couples to the housing at the first bracket location and couples to the axial load sensor at the second bracket location. The first arm couples the second arm to the first bracket location, and the second arm couples the first arm to the second bracket location.
WALKING ASSISTING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A walking assisting system for a user. The system includes first and second sub-systems each having at least one optical sensor, for example a camera. The first sub-system is fitted to the user's abdomen region, for example waist, and the second sub-system is fitted to the user's head region, for example eyes. The system is arranged to align between data obtained from optical sensors of the first and second sub-systems in order to indicate to the user presence of obstacles detected by the first sub-system in a coordinate system of the second sub-system.
Torque pattern adjustment apparatus and method for adjusting torque pattern using the same
An torque pattern adjustment apparatus including a display configured to display a first torque pattern corresponding to a gait cycle, and a generator configured to generate a second torque pattern by adjusting at least a portion of the first torque pattern in response to a reception of an input, and a torque pattern adjustment method using the same may be provided. The first torque pattern may be applied to a joint of a user.
Method and system for providing information to a user
A method for providing information to a user, preferably including: determining environmental information; determining a set of features based on the information; determining output parameters based on the features; and controlling a sensory output system to generate outputs based on the output parameters. A sensory output device, preferably including a plurality of sensory output actuators. A system for providing information to a user, preferably including one or more: sensory output devices, sensors, and computing systems.
Gait disorder support apparatus and gait disorder support method
A gait disorder support apparatus and gait disorder support method capable of detecting an onset sign of a gait disorder associated with motor symptoms in advance and performing motion assist are proposed. The onset sign of the gait disorder associated with the motor symptoms of a wearer is detected based on the correlation between a gait cycle and a reduction ratio of the gait cycle as compared to immediately preceding gait; and when the onset sign of the gait disorder is detected, a drive unit is controlled so that the drive unit applies assist power to a knee joint of the wearer; and on the other hand, when the onset sign of the gait disorder is not detected, the drive unit is controlled so that driving torque by the drive unit does not hinder the wearer's gait motion.
HIP EXOSUIT TO ASSIST HIP FLEXION AND EXTENSION
Disclosed herein are systems and methods for assisting hip flexion and extension during human locomotion. A hip exosuit comprises a hip belt comprising one or more removably attached hip anchoring mechanisms, a leg brace, one or more flexion actuators, wherein each of the one or more flexion actuators is attached at a first end to a hip anchoring mechanism and each of the one or more flexion actuators is attached at a second end to the leg brace, and one or more extension actuators, wherein each of the one or more extension actuators is attached at a first end to a hip anchoring mechanism and is attached at a second end to the leg brace. Each of the actuators are configured to contract in response to one or more signal to aid in the gait of the user.
Suspension system for assisting a user to navigate a staircase
A suspension system (2) for assisting a user (4) to navigate a staircase (6), the suspension system comprising: a beam (8) positioned above the staircase (6); a carriage (18) displaceable along said beam (8) between a first position at the bottom of the staircase (6) and a second position at the top of the staircase (6); a harness (14) securable to the user (4), said harness (14) being operably connectable to said carriage (18) such that said carriage (18) follows the user (4) as the user (4) navigates the staircase (6); and a brake (42) operably connected to said carriage (18) for braking said carriage; wherein if the user (4) falls while navigating the staircase (6), said brake (42) stops said carriage (18) in place and the user (4) is suspended above the staircase.
