Walking assistance devices including a curved tip having a non-constant radius
In one embodiment, a walking assistance device includes a support member adapted to support a user of the device and a curved tip mounted to the support member, the curved tip including a curved outer surface adapted to contact the ground or a floor surface during use of the device, the curved outer surface having a non-constant radius that changes as a function of angular position along the curved outer surface.
Systems and methods for providing dual purpose armrests and crutches of a wheelchair
Embodiments herein are directed to systems and methods of a wheelchair that includes a frame and a pair of armrests. The pair of armrests includes an arm pad, a sleeve configured to store a plurality of telescoping segments, and a pivot portion positioned between the arm pad and the sleeve. The plurality of telescoping segments is configured to extend in a system vertical direction. The pair of armrests is releasably coupled to the frame at the sleeve via a release mechanism. The pair of armrests is pivotable between a first position and a second position wherein when in the first position the pair of armrests is in an armrest position and in the second position the pair of armrests is pivoted in the system vertical direction such that the pair of armrests is a pair of crutches independently operable from the wheelchair.

AESTHETIC GLIDER FOR WALKERS
A walking aid accessory that is an aesthetic glider for a walker and a method of manufacturing.
Detachable crutches and method of controlling the same
A pair of detachable crutches extends in a longitudinal direction, where each of the detachable crutches includes a metal ball having magnetic properties and a holder having magnetic properties. A magnetic force is generated between the metal ball provided at one of the crutches and the holder provided at the other one of the crutches so as to maintain attachment therebetween. Each of the crutches further includes a sensor configured to sense whether the metal ball and the holder have been attached to each other.

Dual lever arm assist tool for individuals and care givers
An apparatus comprises a tubular structure. The tubular structure generally comprises a U-shaped portion, a first lever arm, and a second lever arm. The first lever arm generally comprises a first curved portion, a first straight portion, and a first bent portion. The second lever arm generally comprises a second curved portion, a second straight portion and a second bent portion. The U-shaped portion is generally aligned within a first plane. The first lever arm is generally aligned within a second plane. The second lever arm is generally aligned within a third plane. The second and the third planes are generally parallel to each other and perpendicular to the first plane.
Soft terrain walking assist device
A soft terrain walking assist device and foot for the same is disclosed. The walking assist device includes an elongate shaft having a proximal end and a distal end. A handle is defined at the proximal end. A foot is attached to the distal end. The foot formed as a rounded plate having a coupling on a top surface of the rounded plate. A plurality of downwardly protruding tabs disposed in a spaced apart relation about a peripheral edge of the rounded plate. The tabs are configured to penetrate a soft terrain in a ground surface and contain a portion of the soft terrain within a containment area defined between the bottom surface and an inner face of each of the plurality of downwardly protruding tabs. The present invention allows users with a stability or strength impediment to enjoy peaceful walks on the beach while providing added stability.
PROSTHETIC FOOT WITH LAYERS OF FIBROUS MATERIAL
A prosthetic foot including a continuous body extending from a proximal end to a distal end. The body includes an anterior surface, a posterior surface opposite the anterior surface, and a fin on the posterior surface. A prosthetic foot can include a first footplate and a second footplate. The first footplate extends between a proximal portion and a distal portion. The proximal and distal portions of the first footplate are configured to operatively engage a support surface during ambulation. The second footplate extends between a proximal portion and a distal portion. The distal portion of the second footplate is coupled to the first footplate at an intermediate location between the proximal and distal portions of the first footplate. The second footplate incudes an anterior surface, a posterior surface opposite the anterior surface, and a fin on the posterior surface.
Apparatus and systems for powering supports for exoskeletons
Some embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to a charging apparatus for charging and/or powering a smart or powered crutch device. The crutch may include electronic circuitry as well as on board rechargeable power or energy source, and it may provide access to charge the power source using a charger system. The charger system may be a floor charger configured to receive a portion of the crutch such as the distal tip so as to facilitate the transfer of power from the charger to the crutch. The charger system may also be in the form of a wall charger and/or a portable system.
