PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL THERAPEUTIC ACTUATOR

An apparatus includes a membrane, a plurality of cup elements, and a pneumatic distribution port. The membrane has a conformable substrate and is configured for placement on a tissue site. The plurality of cup elements includes a first cup element and a second cup element. The first cup element and the second cup element are each disposed on a first side of the membrane, and each have a concave surface configured to engage tissue at the tissue site. The pneumatic distribution port has an inlet and an outlet. The outlet is coupled to the first cup element or is coupled to the first cup element and the second cup element.

Spring driven pump for dispensing discrete bursts of liquid
10299884 · 2019-05-28 · ·

An oral care appliance (10) having a pump assembly (14) for delivering discrete bursts or shots of liquid. The pump assembly includes a pump housing (36) and an inlet/outlet assembly (38) at a forward end of the housing, including one-way valves (80, 82) in the inlet and outlet openings. A plunger sleeve (44) is positioned within the housing with a central opening (48) in a fluid-tight relationship with the inlet and outlet assembly. A plunger (52) includes a center portion (56), positioned in the central opening of the plunger sleeve in a fluid-tight relationship therewith. The plunger sleeve includes an outer member (54) between the plunger sleeve and the internal surface of the housing. A compressible spring (64) is positioned between a forward end of the outer member of the plunger and the rear end of the housing. A drive mechanism (72) moves the plunger rearwardly, resulting in the plunger sleeve filling with liquid by vacuum action from a reservoir (26) in the appliance, and then releases the plunger, allowing the spring to move the plunger quickly forward, forcing liquid in the plunger sleeve out through the fluid outlet in a direct burst.

External ear canal pressure regulation system

An external ear canal pressure regulation device including a fluid flow generator and an earpiece having a first axial earpiece conduit fluidicly coupled to the fluid flow generator, whereby the earpiece has a compliant earpiece external surface configured to sealably engage an external ear canal as a barrier between an external ear canal pressure and an ambient pressure.

Method for external ear canal pressure regulation to alleviate disorder symptoms

A method for external ear canal pressure regulation to alleviate one or more symptoms associated with a disorder or treat one or more disorders, the method including providing a fluid transfer device which generates a fluid flow of a fluid through an earplug, the earplug having an earplug external surface configured to sealably engage an external ear canal wall as a barrier between an external ear canal pressure and an ambient pressure; sealably engaging the earplug of the fluid transfer device with the external ear canal wall as the barrier between the external ear canal pressure and the ambient pressure; and operating the fluid transfer device to generate the fluid flow of the fluid through the earplug to achieve an external ear canal pressure differential between the external ear canal pressure and the ambient pressure effective to alleviate a disorder symptom or treat a disorder.

MEDICAL PRESSURE THERAPY DEVICE AND COMPONENTS THEREOF

A pressure therapy device includes a pressure chamber, an inflatable padding, a seal, and a positioning mechanism. The pressure chamber has an opening arranged for admitting the inflatable padding and a limb of a user. The inflatable padding is inflatable to enclose and fix the limb in position. The seal covers the opening, including the inflatable padding and the limb to seal the pressure chamber from ambient atmospheric pressure. A pump unit is provided to generate a non-atmospheric pressure within the pressure chamber and includes a first valve system and a piston with safety release features for preventing unsafe pressure levels.

Pneumatic somatosensory stimulation device and method

A device for providing tactile stimulation of a subject via a pulse of compressible fluid, typically for medical diagnostic and therapeutic applications. The device preferably includes a high pressure fluid source and a low pressure fluid source. A pressure valve selectively connects the pressure sources to an outlet conduit. The outlet conduit includes an applicator for directing pulses against the skin of a subject. The pulses may be applied via one applicator or a plurality of applicators, and may be applied in one pattern or several patterns at various application sites. A method of providing tactile stimulation is also disclosed.
