Thermal cycler systems and methods of use
A thermal cycler system for use with a sample holder configured to receive a plurality of samples includes a sample block having an upstanding peripheral side wall and being configured to receive the sample holder and an adaptor having an upstanding peripheral side wall configured to be positioned about the peripheral side wall of the sample block. When the peripheral side wall of the adaptor is positioned about the peripheral side wall of the sample block and the sample holder is received in the sample block, the peripheral side wall of the adaptor extends in an upward direction toward the sample holder.
POINT-OF-CARE IMMUNOASSAY DEVICE AND METHOD
An immunoassay device for use in quantitatively measuring an amount of an analyte in a fluid sample, employs reagents that include particle pairs comprising a) one of an antigen and antibody coupled with a label, and b) a magnetic particle coupled with the other of the antigen and antibody. A transport which moves a set of reaction wells along a path and a dispenser dispenses respective ones of the reagents into the reaction wells. Prior to magnetic separation and optical analysis, a controller that coordinates movement of the transport with operation of the pipette modules operates the transport to reciprocate the set of reaction wells along the path for mixing the fluid sample with the reagents.
Electrochemical measurement cartridge
An electrochemical measurement cartridge includes a container including a first analysis chamber for receiving a fluid to be analyzed and a second calibration chamber for receiving a calibration fluid; an electrochemical measurement sensor including at least one work electrode and one reference electrode; a container supporting the sensor and a cover arranged mobile relative to one another to confer on the cartridge at least two separate operating configurations, a first configuration in which the sensor is communicating with the first analysis chamber and a second configuration in which the sensor is communicating with the second calibration chamber; sealing between the chambers of the container and the cover; and a drive member for providing a relative movement of the container relative to the cover.

The invention provides a multi-well plate reader for providing simultaneous transmission of stimulation light to, and detection of emission light from, individual wells of a multi-well plate at a plurality of distinct wavelengths.
STACKING DEVICE FOR MICROTITER PLATES
A device for receiving, stacking, and removing microplates is presented and described. The device comprises a tower for stacking the microplates, wherein a microplate comprises a container and, optionally, a lid. There is a retaining device at the lower end of the tower, which has a first retaining tool and a second retaining tool, and preferably partially encompasses a microplate. The first retaining tool is designed to hold a microplate in a form-fitting manner. The second retaining tool is designed to fix a container in the microplate in place in a frictional manner. The first retaining tool is above the second retaining tool in the stacking direction. A system that comprises the device described above, a dispenser device, and a transport device, is also disclosed. The dispenser device is used to fill microplates, and the transport device is used to add and remove microplates to and from the device.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETECTING PRESENCE OF A TARGET BIOPARTICLE IN A SAMPLE VIA A VERTICAL FLOW ASSAY
One variation of a system includes a cartridge comprising: a substrate; a sample well integrated into the substrate, defining an upper opening and a lower opening, and configured to receive a test solution comprising a user sample and an amount of a fluorescent probe configured to bind with a target bioparticle to form a target complex; a filter membrane extending across the lower opening and defining a network of pores configured to convey fluid from the sample well and prevent passage of the target complex through the filter membrane. The system further includes a reader comprising: a housing; a cartridge receptacle configured to receive the cartridge; an excitation source configured to illuminate a detection region within the housing; and a detector defining a field of view intersecting the detection region and configured to detect a signal generated by fluid in the sample well and representing presence of the target bioparticle.
Integrated System for Preparation of Pathology Samples
An integrated pathology system includes a tissue embedding module configured to embed a tissue sample into an embedding material to prepare a tissue block, a sectioning and slide creating module configured to remove one or more tissue sections from the tissue block and place the one or more tissue sections onto one or more slides, a staining module configured to stain the one or more tissue sections on the slides, and a cover-slipper module configured to place a cover onto the one or more stained tissue sections. The system further includes one or more transfer devices configured to integrate the modules and a processor in communication with the modules for controlling one or more processes performed by the modules and the one or more transfer devices for controlling the integration of the modules.
TILTABLE STAGES AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME
A tiltable stage assembly includes a base and a tiltable stage operably coupled to the base and pivotable relative to the base. The tiltable stage is moveable between an initial position and a tilted position, wherein the tiltable stage is parallel with the base in the initial position and is oriented at an angle to the base when in the tilted position. The tiltable stage is biased to the initial position.
Safety light curtain to disable carousel rotation
A digital slide scanning apparatus includes a safety light curtain that operates to disable the motor that rotates the carousel when the presence of an object (e.g., the fingers of an operator) is detected within a predetermined area of the carousel. The light curtain also operates to disable the motor that rotates the carousel when an improperly positioned glass slide or slide rack is detected. The digital slide scanning apparatus also includes a multi-color status indicator for each rack slot that indicates the rack slot location of an improperly positioned glass slide or slide rack.
Monitoring apparatus for temperature-controlled sample collection and transport
A system is provided for transporting, handling and monitoring samples in a temperature-controlled storage environment. The system includes a handheld carrier configured to transfer samples to and from a temperature-controlled storage station and a temperature-controlled container for receiving and housing one or more carriers. The carrier includes an integrated sample identification and temperature sensing capability configured to monitor a thermal history of one or more samples during transport, handling and storage including as the samples are conveyed between the temperature-controlled storage environment and the temperature-controlled container. That is, the carrier is adapted to be held in the hand during use. A carrier for conveying and monitoring samples during transport, handling and storage is also provided.
