Tip Collar with Integrated Filters
A disposable filter tip collar provides an improved system for using filters in conjunction with disposable pipette tips. The filters are installed into the tip-holding collar rather than inside each tip as in current use. The separation of the filters from the tips in this manner offers significant advantages for ease of use, cost, and pipetting performance. Because the filters are separate from the tips, the available liquid pipetting volume within the tips is not diminished as it is using the current system, which allows for more consistent pipetting and method development between filter and non-filter tips. Since the filters are not limited in size by the internal diameter of the pipette tips, larger diameter filters can be used which are more efficient and allow better pipetting performance.
Pipette Tips with Vertical Ribs
An apparatus for assembling together a plurality of pipette tips into a single line or a rectangular array using a tip collar that will provide structural rigidity to the plurality of pipette tips. The tips are manufactured with vertical ribs and the tip collar is manufactured to achieve a friction fit with the vertical ribs of the tips, thereby producing a tip and collar assembly that is easier to manufacture, lower in cost, and more convenient for the operator.
Apparatus and method for using a tip collar on a single row of pipette tips
An apparatus for assembling together a plurality of pipette tips into a single line using a tip collar that will provide structural rigidity to the plurality of pipette tips and the method of incorporating such an apparatus. Such rigidity created by the tip collar apparatus will allow for an innovative method of connecting a single line of pipette tips to their respective pipettors that will reduce the amount of downward axial force required to impinge the plurality of pipette tips using the traditional connection method. The tips will be maintained in a consistent and straight pattern as required for pipetting, and not susceptible to breakage. The tips can also be customized by the user into any pattern of tips in a single line as needed for specialized applications.
POINT-OF-CARE BIOMARKER ASSAY APPARATUS ARRANGED FOR MEASURING A PRESENCE OR CONCENTRATION OF A BIOMARKER IN A SAMPLE
Point-of-care biomarker assay apparatus arranged for measuring a presence or concentration of a biomarker in a sample, said biomarker assay apparatus comprising cartridge receiving means arranged for receiving at least one cartridge having multiple chambers designed for receiving a plurality of liquid media comprising said sample, labelled binding reagent, magnetic beads reagent and wash buffer, a sample distribution unit arranged for processing pipetting steps with said chambers, thereby providing a liquid reactant mixture in one or more of said chambers, a magnetic coil assembly arranged for applying a magnetic field to said liquid reactant mixture for separating biomarkers bound to said magnetic beads and said labelled binding reagent, from said reactant mixture, a photo detector or assembly arranged for measuring said presence or concentration of said labelled binding reagent, a control unit arranged for controlling said processing pipetting steps with said chambers, and for controlling said sample distribution unit along said chambers according to a test protocol, wherein said test protocol comprises an order of subsequent processing steps performed in said plurality of chambers to be processed by said sample distribution unit, said processing steps comprising one or more processing pipetting steps by the sample distribution unit and one or more processing incubation steps of the reaction mixture within any of the chambers wherein the control unit being programmed for performing multiple, distinct test protocols.
Pipette Tip Loading and Unloading Mechanism for Single Row Multichannel Pipettors
A mechanism that provides an improved method of loading and unloading a row of disposable pipette tips onto a handheld multichannel pipettor. A single button fur tip load and unload operations is simpler than the current method of using a separate mechanism for ejecting the tips. The tips are configured in a rigid collar which is held by a clamp on the pipettor. An upward force combined with a sealing gasket that mates with the top of the pipette tips is used to provide the seal between the tips and the pipettor. This eliminates the requirement to “press downward” with excessive force in order to force the pipette tips onto a protruding sealing part. The loading and unloading of tips will be more reliable and repeatable, this providing better pipetting results. The low forces of the loading and unloading operations reduce the chance of repetitive stress injury for the operator.
Waste disposal system
A waste disposal system for the disposal of consumables through a waste chute into a waste container includes a waste chute having a first opening and a second opening, wherein the first opening is situated outside the waste container and the second opening opens toward the waste container. The first opening and the second opening are arranged at a first distance from one another, wherein the waste chute includes a plurality of self-resetting lamellae for the partial or complete closure of the openings. The lamellae form at least two lamella annuli arranged at a second distance above one another, wherein at least one first lamella annulus closes the first opening and at least one second lamella annulus closes the second opening, and the second distance between the lamella annuli is at least one third, preferably at least half and particularly preferably at least three quarters of the first distance.
Device for at least one of storing and transporting a plurality of packaging containers
The invention relates to a device for at least one of storing and transporting a plurality of packaging containers comprises a tub-shaped lower part and an upper part for closing the lower part in a closed position in which they enclose an interior of the device. The lower part has a bottom and a lower-part wall projecting from the bottom in the direction of the upper part. The lower part comprises a wall element which with the lower-part wall forms a circumferential wall of the lower part. The wall element is movable relative to the lower part in order to at least partially open the wall.
