Fluid port
The present invention relates to a flexible bag, a perfusion filter and a fluid port. The fluid port comprises: —a first fluid connection (3; 3′); —a second fluid connection (5; 5′) being in fluid communication with the first fluid connection (3; 3′); —an intermediate fluid path (7: 7′) connecting the first fluid connection (3; 3′) with the second fluid connection (5; 5′); wherein said intermediate fluid path (7; 7′) at least a portion of which comprises a substantially right-angled bend (9; 9′); —a protection cap (11; 11′) protecting at least the bend (9; 9′) of the intermediate fluid part (7; 7′) from contact with other objects; and —a connection surface (13; 13′) configured for sealing to a film of an object to be supplied by said port, said connection surface will, when sealed to the film of the object, together with the film provide a fluid tight seal surrounding the first fluid connection (3; 3′).
Kits for stabilizing analytes in urine samples at room temperature
Disclosed here are kits comprising pre-packed stabilizing solutions for stabilizing combinations of biomarkers at room temperature. Such kits can be better adapted for sample collection at a subject's dwelling, thus easing the burdensome requirement of sample collection.
REAGENT CARRIERS FOR FLUIDIC SYSTEMS
Fluidic systems and reagent carriers suitable for storing reagents in a desirable manner are generally provided. In some embodiments, a reagent carrier stores a liquid film comprising a solid reagent and/or stores different reagents in different locations. In some embodiments, a fluidic system comprises a reagent carrier constrained such that it comprises an elongated axis positioned within 30° of a vertical axis of the fluidic reservoir.
RECEPTACLE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
A receptacle distribution system includes a rotary distributor and a receptacle handoff device. The rotary distributor includes a motorized turntable with an upright wall, a distributor head for holding a receptacle, a hook configured to engage a receptacle for moving the receptacle into or out of the distributor head, and an a system for powered elevation of the distributor head. The receptacle handoff device is configured to transfer a receptacle from a first receptacle distributor to the rotary distributor and includes a receptacle yoke configured to hold a receptacle placed in the receptacle yoke with the first receptacle distributor, the receptacle yoke being rotatable between a first position to receive the receptacle and a second position to present the receptacle to the rotary distributor to enable the hook of the rotary distributor to pull the receptacle from the receptacle yoke and into the distributor head.
Needle-free, safety biological sample collection system
A collection container for biological samples is described. In one embodiment, the collection container includes a receptacle and a lid with a sampling port. The sampling port is coupled to an aspiration tube and allows access to the contents of the receptacle. A needle-free fitting allows a mating device to be coupled to the sampling port. A valve automatically closes to prevent the sample from escaping through the sampling port when a mating device is not coupled.
A Photonic Method and Apparatus for Detecting Compounds and Pathogens in a Respiratory Sample
The present invention relates generally to a means of detecting a target molecule, compound or substance through the attractive forces occurring between said target and a target-specific molecular probe whereby said molecular probe expresses a selective high affinity for target and is capable of fluorescent luminescence at a definitive frequency and in a determinable light wave range. Specifically, said molecular probe offers target-specific binding where a resultant duplex molecule fluoresces upon hybridization to a target's unique molecule nucleotide sequence. Said hybridization allows for optical detection of said duplex via a directed, filtered and focused light source which makes said duplex both quantifiable and quantifiable via luminescence (i.e., light wave excitation) and subsequent photo detection utilizing ellipsoidal reflection to amplify detection and measurement improving both sensitivity and specificity.
DEVICES FOR COLLECTING BIOLOGICAL SAMPLES
Disclosed herein are devices, apparatus, systems, methods and kits for collecting and storing a fluid sample from a subject. A device for collecting the fluid sample can include a housing comprising a recess having an opening, a vacuum chamber in the housing and in fluidic communication with the recess, and one or more piercing elements that are extendable through the opening to penetrate skin of the subject. The vacuum chamber can be configured for having a vacuum that draws the skin into the recess. The recess can be configured having a size or shape that enables an increased volume of the fluid sample to be accumulated in the skin drawn into the recess.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR COLLECTING A SAMPLE OF NUCLEIC ACID
A system for collecting biomolecules comprising an extractor assembly comprising a top cap, an extractor core, an extractor core adaptor, an extractor body having an internal volume, and a bottom cap ring. The top cap comprises a sample connection port and is configured to be secured to the extractor body by the bottom cap ring. The extractor core is adapted to be removably attached to a connection interface of the top cap and contains a substrate for collecting the biomolecules. The extractor core adaptor has an upstream open end for mating with the downstream end of the extractor core and a downstream protrusion configured to project through an opening in the extractor body. Methods for using the system to collect samples for transport and further processing to detect disease are also disclosed.
