Arrangement for providing information on fluid flow rate
The present disclosure relates to an arrangement for providing information about a flow rate of a fluid, comprising: a fluid inlet opening, at least one flow channel, and at least one porous zone located above the at least one flow channel, wherein the surface size and position of the at least one porous zone relative to the fluid inlet opening defines the evaporation rate of a fluid, arranged such that when a fluid is injected through the fluid inlet opening the fluid flows via hydraulic pressure through the at least one flow channel and then through the respective at least one porous zone.
Method and Apparatus for Metering and Vaporizing a Fluid
A vaporization device, including a fluid supply containing a vaporizable fluid; a plurality of bubble pumps operative to pump fluid from the fluid supply to outlets of the bubble pumps; and a fluid vaporization heater located adjacent the outlets of the bubble pumps to receive fluid from the bubble pumps.
PLASMA EXTRACTION DEVICE
The present invention discloses a plasma extraction device for generating fixed, predetermined quantity of plasma and for dry-transport of obtained plasma for automated assay. Plasma extraction device includes a plasma extractor assembly comprising an absorbent probe that wicks a predetermined volume of a liquid sample from a liquid source, a separator that generates plasma from the wicked liquid sample, and an absorbent reservoir that stores fixed, predetermined quantity of the generated plasma for dry-transport and automated assay thereof.
Reagent storage on a droplet actuator
A method of providing a droplet comprising one or more reagents, the method comprising, depositing a first aqueous droplet comprising the one or more reagents on a surface; drying the droplet to yield a dried composition on the surface comprising the one or more reagents; covering the dried composition with oil; and causing a second aqueous droplet in the oil to contact the dried composition and thereby resuspend one or more reagents.
METHOD AND DISPENSER DEVICE FOR DEPOSITING A SUBSTANCE ON A TARGET SUBSTRATE
A method of depositing at least one substance on a target substrate (1) comprises the step of operating at least one droplet dispenser (21) such that droplets (2) including the at least one substance are deposited on the target substrate (1), wherein the target substrate (1) has a substrate surface including spatially delimited receptacle sections (3) being arranged for accommodating the droplets (2), and the at least one droplet dispenser (21) is controlled in dependency on the locations of the receptacle sections (3) such that the droplets (2) are directed onto the receptacle sections (3). Furthermore, a dispenser device (100) for depositing at least one substance on a target substrate (1) is described.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ACQUIRING BLOOD FOR TESTING
A blood sampling device is provided having holder with a manipulating end and an absorbent probe on the opposing end. The probe is of hydrophilic polymer sized to directly absorb a predetermined volume of up to about 30 microliters of blood. Ribs on the holder position the probe within a compartment of a container to prevent contact with the container. The ribs also position the probe within extraction wells.
Systems and methods for reaction and transport engineering via cellular fluidics
The present disclosure relates to an engineered, additively manufactured, microfluidic cellular structure formed from a plurality of cells, wherein the cells are each formed from a plurality of interconnected elements. The cells have voids and each cell is open at upper ends thereof. The cells each communicate at a point below its upper end with a common channel. The cells are each configured to accept a fluid and operate to channel the fluid into the common channel and to hold the fluid received therein for later selective withdrawal from the structure.
Dried specimen storage slide
Specimen collection slides, methods of fabricating and methods of utilizing such specimen collection slides whereby each specimen collection slide includes a top rigid layer with an opening, a bottom rigid layer with an opening substantially the same size as the top layer opening, a middle rigid section having an opening larger than the openings in both the top and bottom layers, and a filtration media residing within the opening in the middle section. The top, bottom and middle are secured together to provide the resultant slide with thickness and rigidity that lends the slide to be utilized in automated handling processes and instruments. The middle section of the slide encases the filtration media and sandwiches it between the top and bottom layers so that the filtration media is protected from damage. Each slide may have its own unique identifier.
Dry Chemistry Container
A microfluidic system is presented that includes a cartridge and a container. The cartridge includes a plurality of microfluidic channels coupled to one or more chambers. The container holds dry chemicals and includes a housing with a first opening and a second opening smaller than the first opening. The container is designed to be inserted into an opening of the cartridge, such that the container is independently secured within the opening. The insertion of the container allows for the container to be fluidically coupled with a microfluidic channel of the plurality of microfluidic channels via the second opening.
Arrangement for preservation of biological samples
The present invention generally relates to systems and methods for preserving biological samples and, more particularly, an arrangement for drying biological samples disposed on sample storage substrates. The systems and methods for preserving biological samples can include a heating element such as a chemical heating pad that facilitates drying of the biological samples.
