A biological analysis system for performing a performing an assay or experiment includes one or more of a carrier, base, or tray. The carrier, base, or tray is/are configured to interchangeably receive (1) a first block and a corresponding first cover placed over the first block or (2) a second block and a corresponding second cover placed over the second block; The system also includes a computer readable memory comprising instructions for detecting when the second cover is placed over the first block and/or for detecting when the first cover is placed over the second block based on lack of electrical continuity along an electrical path comprising one of the blocks and one of the covers.
LIQUID COLLECTOR
An embodiment of the present disclosure provides a liquid collector that collects liquid, the liquid collector including: a flow passage member including a flow passage that connects one end and other end of the flow passage member; a contact member that is disposed at the one end of the flow passage member, that includes an elastic material, and that is configured to come into contact with a target from which liquid is to be collected; and a container that receives the liquid discharged from the flow passage at the other end of the flow passage member.
TESTING SYSTEM
A testing system collects a specimen from a subject and measures the collected specimen to test the specimen, and includes a box to allow at least one of specimen collection for collecting and receiving the specimen, preprocessing for processing the collected specimen before measurement, or specimen measurement for measuring the preprocessed specimen to be performed therein.
Electrochemical measurement cartridge
An electrochemical measurement cartridge includes a container including a first analysis chamber for receiving a fluid to be analyzed and a second calibration chamber for receiving a calibration fluid; an electrochemical measurement sensor including at least one work electrode and one reference electrode; a container supporting the sensor and a cover arranged mobile relative to one another to confer on the cartridge at least two separate operating configurations, a first configuration in which the sensor is communicating with the first analysis chamber and a second configuration in which the sensor is communicating with the second calibration chamber; sealing between the chambers of the container and the cover; and a drive member for providing a relative movement of the container relative to the cover.
Autoplatelet cartridge device
Embodiments of a platelet testing system include an analyzer console device and a blood testing cartridge configured to releasably install into the console device. The cartridge device is configured with one or more measuring chambers and one or more mixing chambers that are fluidically connected within the cartridge device that enable the mixing of saline and a blood sample to a desired dilution. Additionally, the cartridge device is further configured with a cartridge slider that provides a reagent bead to the saline and blood mixture at a desired time. As such, one or more platelet activation assays can be conducted by measuring, through cartridge electrodes of the cartridge device, the detectable changes in platelet activity within the blood and saline mixture.
Systems for Operating Microfluidic Devices
Systems for operating a microfluidic device are described. The systems comprise a first surface configured to interface and operatively couple with a microfluidic device and a lid configured to retain the microfluidic device on the first surface. The lid comprises a first portion having a first fluid port configured to operatively couple with and flow fluidic medium into and/or out of a first fluid inlet/outlet of the microfluidic device and a second portion having a second fluid port configured to operatively couple with and flow fluidic medium into and/or out of a second fluid inlet/outlet of the microfluidic device. The second portion of the lid is separable from the first portion and movable between a closed position in which the second fluid port of the second portion of the cover is operatively coupled with the second fluid inlet/outlet of the microfluidic device and an open position in which a portion of the microfluidic device that contains the second fluid inlet/outlet is exposed. Other embodiments are described.
Methods and apparatus for measuring analytes using large scale FET arrays
Methods and apparatus relating to very large scale FET arrays for analyte measurements. ChemFET (e.g., ISFET) arrays may be fabricated using conventional CMOS processing techniques based on improved FET pixel and array designs that increase measurement sensitivity and accuracy, and at the same time facilitate significantly small pixel sizes and dense arrays. Improved array control techniques provide for rapid data acquisition from large and dense arrays. Such arrays may be employed to detect a presence and/or concentration changes of various analyte types in a wide variety of chemical and/or biological processes. In one example, chemFET arrays facilitate DNA sequencing techniques based on monitoring changes in the concentration of inorganic pyrophosphate (PPi), hydrogen ions, and nucleotide triphosphates.
Cloud-enabled passive wireless ionic sensing in small vials
The present invention features the application of a simple, inductively-coupled measurement system into the cap of standard laboratory sample tubes, thus enabling continuous, wireless ionic sensing of a bevy of samples. The system may be powered by a compact Class E amplifier using inductive coupling via a designed resonance frequency of 1 MHz. Other frequencies can be used, such as the popular near-field communication (NFC) frequency of 13.66 MHz. Signals are transmitted back via load modulation at frequencies a fraction of the power carrier frequency, thus allowing for extraction of the signal frequency. Results clearly show that modulation frequency tracks closely with open circuit potential, and the system features good sensitivity and linearity. This system holds promise for a host of applications.
