APPARATUS FOR COLLECTION OF FLUID SAMPLES
The present invention relates in general to the improved containment of biological fluids. In particular, a method and apparatus for collection and preservation of fluid samples in accordance with the present invention results in collection of semen having improved viability both at the time of collection and after storage. The disclosed apparatus support a wide variety of applications for containment of biological fluids related to human and veterinary medicine including, but not limited to, human reproductive medicine and animal husbandry.
GENOME EXTRACTION DEVICE OF DUAL CHAMBER STRUCTURE IN WHICH OUTER CHAMBER AND INNER CHAMBER ARE COMBINED WITH EACH OTHER
Provided is a genome extraction device to which a dual chamber structure of an outer chamber and an inner chamber is applied, more particularly a genome extraction device to which the above-described dual chamber structure is applied so that the genome extraction device can be stored stably for a long time without the risk of reagent leakage.
Test tube vacuum retainer
Embodiments can provide a test tube vacuum retainer system, comprising an outer body comprising a midline plate; one or more side walls, a bottom wall, and a top plate comprising an access hole; a test tube holder comprising a sealant ring; a base; and a vacuum tube comprising an external outlet; wherein the test tube holder is secured within the outer body to the base, which in turn is secured to the midline plate; wherein the vacuum tube is connected to the test tube holder at a first end, and the external outlet is configured to be connected to a vacuum pump configured to apply a vacuum force to the test tube holder when a test tube is inserted into the access hole and placed onto the test tube holder.
Rigidified pipette tip tray
Provided herein is a pipette tip tray that includes a base and a connected pipette tip receptacle plate, where the base includes a plurality of axially-disposed base ribs disposed on two or more internal wall surfaces, the pipette receptacle plate includes a plurality of plate ribs disposed on the distal surface of the plate, and a portion of at least a subset of the plate ribs is in contact with at least a portion of an end of at least a subset of the base ribs.
Immuno histo chemistry tissue processing system
A tissue processing system for processing a laboratory slide includes a slide holder for holding the slide, an outlet port positioned to direct a fluid stream onto the slide, and a device for moving the slide holder relative to the outlet port, or vice versa, to adjust a point on the slide at which the fluid stream is delivered onto the laboratory slide. The slide holder includes an absorbent pad configured to be positioned between one wall of the plurality of walls and a free edge of the slide for absorbing fluid travelling along the slide. A manifold of the system includes a first outlet port that directs a first fluid stream from a first fluid passageway onto the slide, and a second outlet port that directs a second fluid stream from a second fluid passageway onto a location of the slide that differs from the first fluid stream.
Nanostraw well insert devices for improved cell transfection and viability
Described herein are nanostraw well insert apparatuses (e.g., devices and systems) that include nanotubes extending through and out of a membrane so that a material can pass through the membrane from a fluid reservoir depot and into a cell grown onto the nanotubes when electrical energy (e.g., electroporation energy) is applied. In particular, the device, systems and methods described herein may be adapted for cell growth viability and transfection efficiency (e.g., >70%). These apparatuses may be readily integratable into cell culturing processes for improved transfection efficiency, intracellular transport, and cell viability.
Plasma storage apparatus
An apparatus for storing blood plasma separated after fractionation from whole blood within a wrapped hematocrit (capillary) tube. The apparatus is large enough to receive and display a standard laboratory identification label. The apparatus stores plasma from a hematocrit tube that does not include thixotropic gel. The apparatus housing has an intended upright orientation, a central axis, a top end, a bottom end, and side walls defining an internal cavity. A wall with an upper surface and a lower surface divides the internal cavity into an upper cavity and a lower cavity. A reservoir is formed in the upper cavity. A removable cap seals the reservoir. The cap is movable between open and closed positions. A channel within the lower cavity extends axially from the bottom of the housing to the wall. The channel receives and supports the wrapped hematocrit tube while plasma is expelled therefrom and into the reservoir.
Method for performing a magnetic separation procedure
A method for performing a magnetic separation procedure that includes transporting a receptacle containing a fluid medium to a first location of a system, where the fluid medium contains both a sample material and a suspension of magnetically-responsive solid supports. At the first location, the fluid medium is exposed to a first magnetic field for a first dwell period, thereby isolating the solid supports within the receptacle, where no portion of the fluid medium is removed from the receptacle at the first location. The receptacle is then transported from the first location to a second location of the system, where the fluid medium is exposed to a second magnetic field for a second dwell period. Following the second dwell period, at least a portion of the fluid medium is removed from the receptacle. A suspension fluid is then dispensed into the receptacle, and the contents of the receptacle are agitated to suspend the solid supports within the suspension fluid.
NEW MULTI-FUNCTIONAL FLUIDIC DEVICE FOR CLAMPING BIOPSIES
A fluidic device (1) comprises a flow chamber (2) for accommodating a biological specimen on a carrier portion (3) and at least one flow channel (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d) fluidly connected to the flow chamber (2), the fluidic device (1) having a layered structure comprising a bottom plate (5), a cover plate (6) and an insert (7) in between, the insert (7) comprising the carrier portion (3) and a frame portion surrounding the carrier portion (3), and being elastomeric in order to be able to clamp a biological specimen between an incision in the carrier portion (3).
TIP DEVICE, TIP CONTAINER SET, TIP ELECTRODE APPARATUS, AND TIP ELECTRODE SET
A tip device (1) includes a tubular tip (6) and a base (8) that is continuous with a rear end (6a) of the tip (6) and includes a first connector. The first connector detachably connects to a second connector provided in a container (2) to house the tip (6).
