Centrifugation method separating serum or plasma from whole blood using a specimen container having a cap to retain blood cells
A device and method for separating serum or plasma from blood cells in a whole blood specimen. The present invention uses a cap with a reservoir, such that blood cells are packed into the cap when the specimen container is centrifuged. When the cap is removed, the blood cells are also removed, and the serum or plasma is left in the specimen tube where it can be readily extracted by a pipette which is able to reach all the way to the bottom of the specimen tube minimizing the dead volume.
Method and System for Imaging and Analysis of a Biological Specimen
The present disclosure provides methods of preparing a biological specimen for imaging analysis, comprising fixing and clearing the biological specimen and subsequently analyzing the cleared biological specimen using microscopy. Also included are methods of quantifying cells, for example, active populations of cells in response to a stimulant. The present disclosure also provides devices for practicing the described methods. A flow-assisted clearing device provides rapid clearing of hydrogel-embedded biological specimens without the need of specialized equipment such as electrophoresis or perfusion devices.
CONTAINER SYSTEM FOR RECEIVING A LIQUID SAMPLE
A container system for receiving a liquid sample has a receptacle including a substantially tubular portion for receiving a predetermined volume of the sample. The substantially tubular portion has a first open end and an at least partially openable second end; and a chamber at least partially surrounding the substantially tubular portion. The chamber has an at least partially open upper portion and a closed bottom.
PORTABLE DIAGNOSTIC DEVICE IN THE FORM OF A CYLINDRICAL HOUSING AND USES THEREOF
A portable diagnostic device for performing the diagnosis of pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria, microorganisms, etc., by rapidly detecting their nucleic acids in a biological sample to be tested. Also, the use of the portable diagnostic device and the methods for detection of at least one nucleic acid sequence of interest implemented with the aid of the portable diagnostic device.
BIOLOGICAL SAMPLE STORAGE TUBE CAP, AND BIOLOGICAL SAMPLE STORAGE CONTAINER EQUIPPED WITH SAME
A biological sample storage container includes a biological sample storage tube and a biological sample storage tube cap. The tube cap is a cap that is to be attached to the tube having a lower closed portion and an upper opening portion, and is for closing the upper opening portion. The tube cap includes a main body portion that enters the upper opening portion of the biological sample storage tube and closes the upper opening portion, an elongated biological sample adhering portion that extends downward from a lower face of the main body portion, and a flange that protrudes laterally outward from the main body portion. The biological sample adhering portion is cuttable and falls into the biological sample storage tube after being cut.
Electrochemical measurement cartridge
An electrochemical measurement cartridge includes a container including a first analysis chamber for receiving a fluid to be analyzed and a second calibration chamber for receiving a calibration fluid; an electrochemical measurement sensor including at least one work electrode and one reference electrode; a container supporting the sensor and a cover arranged mobile relative to one another to confer on the cartridge at least two separate operating configurations, a first configuration in which the sensor is communicating with the first analysis chamber and a second configuration in which the sensor is communicating with the second calibration chamber; sealing between the chambers of the container and the cover; and a drive member for providing a relative movement of the container relative to the cover.
Optofluidic diagnostics system
An optofluidic diagnostic system and methods for rapid analyte detections. The system comprises an optofluidic sensor array, a test plate and an optical detection cartridge. The sensor array supports one or more distinct sensor units, each having a reactor section designed to temporarily enter a series of different kinds of wells in the test plate. One kind of well is a sample reservoir that holds reagent solution to be transferred into the reactor section. Another kind of well is a drainage chamber that removes reagent solution from the reactor section. A third kind of well is a colorant reservoir that holds a colorant reagent transferable into a reactor section. Finally, the sensor unit is transferred to the optical detection cartridge where it is placed into an isolation booth during the optical detection process so that its flat observation face is stationed in a viewing window opposite an optical detector lens.
Methods, devices, and apparatus for washing samples on array plates
An apparatus for washing an array plate includes one or more dispensers and one or more aspirators that are distinct from the one or more dispensers. A respective dispenser of the one or more dispensers is configured to dispense a first liquid on the array plate, and a respective aspirator of the one or more aspirators is configured to aspirate liquid on the array plate. A method for washing particles is also disclosed.
APPARATUS FOR COLLECTION OF FLUID SAMPLES
The present invention relates in general to the improved containment of biological fluids. In particular, a method and apparatus for collection and preservation of fluid samples in accordance with the present invention results in collection of semen having improved viability both at the time of collection and after storage. The disclosed apparatus support a wide variety of applications for containment of biological fluids related to human and veterinary medicine including, but not limited to, human reproductive medicine and animal husbandry.
Container and method for filtering a suspension
The disclosure relates to a container for filtering a suspension which comprises a lid and a vessel. The container comprises a filter that divides an interior space of the container into a first compartment and a second compartment. The lid comprises a first access and a second access. The first access is connected to the first compartment, and the second access is connected to the second compartment.
