ROLLER MILL AND METHOD FOR OPERATING A ROLLER MILL
A roller mill for comminuting material may include first and second grinding rollers disposed opposite one another and drivable in opposite directions and a milling gap between the grinding rollers. An end region of at least the first grinding roller comprises a peripheral element that extends across the milling gap and at least partially covers an end side of the second grinding roller. A scraping element for at least partially removing material is disposed on the end region of the first grinding roller. A measuring device can determine a layer thickness of ground material on at least one of the grinding rollers and/or determine stress in the peripheral element. A control device connected to the measuring device is configured, based on the determined layer thickness and/or stress, to decrease or increase an amount of space between the scraping element and one of the grinding rollers.

The receiving section (3) can be transferred from an introduction position (E) into a supporting position (S). The receiving section (3) has a profile which at least partially encloses the roll body in the supporting position (S), and the carrying device (1) can be pushed in below the roll body with the receiving section (3) in the introduction position (E), and the roll body is carried with the receiving section (3) in the supporting position (S).

Grinding roller
A grinding roller for vertical axis crushers is disclosed herein that is produced by foundry casting of a metal matrix. The roller includes a plurality of reinforcing inserts on its periphery, wherein some portions of the peripheral surface of a same insert are located at a distance d1 or d2 from the work surface depending on wear stresses. Accordingly, the roller has at least one zone experiencing high wear stress Z1, with at least one portion of the insert positioned at a distance d1 near the work surface of said roller; and a zone with low wear stress Z2, with a portion of the insert positioned at a distance d2 that is set back relative to the work surface of the roller. In some examples, distance d1 is less than distance d2.

Crop processing rolls for operative use in forage harvesters are formed from independent segments having a plurality of first grooves that are oriented in a parallel manner with second smaller grooves intersecting the ridges to form discrete teeth from the ridges. The ridges can be formed vertically, horizontally or in a spiraled pattern with the smaller second grooves oriented into a spiraled pattern to form the discrete teeth. Crop processing roll segments can be formed in this manner and assembled into full processing rolls with the spiraled second grooves being oriented in opposing directions from adjacent segments. The number of segments can vary from two to eight individual segments with the second grooves breaking ridges into discrete teeth on adjacent segments forming a chevron pattern at intersecting positions along the longitudinal length of the processing roll.

The grinding and/or crushing takes place in at least one roller mill which includes a roller pair. So as to detect the temperature of the surfaces of the rollers, at least two temperature sensors are disposed on at least one of the rollers. The detected temperature measurement values are used for optimal adjustment and signal generation of the roller setting.
