A stirrer mill for processing flowable material to be ground including a mill container, a milling chamber that is delimited by a container wall, a stirrer that can rotate about the center longitudinal axis and has a rotor, and an inner stator arranged within the rotor. A ground material discharge channel is formed between the rotor and an outer wall of the inner stator, via which the ground material is guided to the separation unit and then to an outlet line. The milling chamber is at least partially filled with milling elements. A separation unit is arranged above the inner stator. A ground material discharge chamber is formed after the milling element separation unit, in the flow direction of the ground material. A unit for reducing the volume is attached in the ground material discharge chamber.

Disclosed is a method for manufacturing calcium zincate crystals including: placing calcium hydroxide.sub.2 and zinc oxide, one of the precursors thereof, or one of the water mixtures thereof in a starting suspension, the mass ratio of water to calcium hydroxide and zinc oxide, or one of the precursors or mixtures thereof, being greater than or equal to 1; milling the starting suspension to an ambient temperature less than or equal to 50 C. in a wet-phase three-dimensional micro-ball mill for a residence time less than or equal to 15 minutes and in particular from 5 to 25 seconds; recovering a calcium zincate crystal suspension coming out of the mill; and optionally, concentrating or drying the calcium zincate crystal suspension so as to obtain a calcium zincate crystal powder. Also disclosed are uses associated with the calcium zincate crystals obtained according to the method described above.

A monitoring device in the form of a camera in a protective housing is fixed to an outlet assembly of a feed chute and in a particular embodiment to a flange that extends outwardly about an outlet of the outlet assembly. The flange also supports a light also in a protective housing. The feed chute feeds ore into a grinding mill. The housings for the camera and light contain a viewing window which is cleaned by water jets and the window is protected by a visor which can be opened when the interior of the mill is to be recorded. The arrangement allows the interior of the mill to be monitored while the mill is grinding the ore.

Producing particle dispersions

An improvement in an apparatus and a method produces a particle dispersion by processing a particle-carrying feedstock passed from a supply vessel through a bed of media contained within a containment wall having an inlet end and a longitudinally opposite terminal end. An auxiliary chamber surrounds the containment wall so that the feedstock is passed from the bed of media, through the containment wall and into the auxiliary chamber while the media is contained within the bed of media. An external pumping mechanism established a pressure differential that draws the feedstock into the containment wall and through the bed of media, then through the containment wall into the auxiliary chamber, and then out of the auxiliary chamber at a location juxtaposed with the containment wall between the inlet end and the terminal end, while maintaining a negative pressure within the supply vessel and within the auxiliary chamber during processing of the feedstock.

In some embodiments, a gravity aided grinding mill apparatus may include an intake for receiving a grinding media and a grindable material. A first elongated runner may be in communication with the intake, and a first doubleback coupling may be in communication with the first elongated runner. Grinding media and grindable material may travel in a first direction across the first elongated runner into the first doubleback coupling and the first doubleback coupling may change the direction of travel of grinding media and grindable material into a second direction. A second elongated runner may be in communication with the first doubleback coupling, and the second elongated runner may receive the grinding media and grindable material traveling in the second direction from the first doubleback coupling. The grinding media and grindable material may be communicated from an output and across a grizzly screen.

DISCHARGE END WALL INSERTS

An insert for covering one or more selected surfaces of a discharge end assembly including a discharge end wall of a mill shell partially defined by an outer perimeter wall thereof and a number of pulp lifters mounted on the discharge end wall. The insert is formed to cover the selected surfaces to mitigate wear to which the selected surfaces are subjected when the insert is located in a predetermined position relative to the selected surfaces.

Method of observing a change of mass inside a grinding unit

A system and method are disclosed for observing a change of mass inside a grinding unit as a part of a grinding process with a storing unit. The change of mass is derived from a mass balance for the grinding unit and a mass balance for the storing unit.

An attritor mill may include: a grinding container, including a grinding chamber and a rotor within the grinding container. The grinding chamber may be delimited by one or more side walls and a bottom wall. The rotor may include arms extending radially relative to the rotation axis of the rotor. The arms may include first and second arms on one or more levels with reference to a distance from the bottom wall. During normal operation of the attritor mill, a first arm closer to the bottom wall may be radially shorter than a second arm above the first arm. The attritor mill may be configured to treat material by: mixing the material with grinding free bodies in the grinding chamber; and agitating the material and the grinding free bodies by causing the rotor to rotate, so that the first and second arms strike the grinding free bodies.
