DESTRUCTION VALIDATION SYSTEM
20210138481 · 2021-05-13 ·

This technology relates to a destruction validation system. The destruction validation system includes a destruction device and a controller. The controller is configured to monitor current drawn by the destruction device during destruction of the piece of physical media. The controller may compare the current drawn to a current profile. Based on the comparison of the current drawn to the current profile, the controller may generate and output a notification indicating whether the piece of physical media has been destroyed. In some instances, the destruction device includes a current sensing device. The current sensing device may be configured to detect the current drawn by the destruction device and transmit the detected current drawn to the controller. The current drawn that is monitored by the controller may be the detected current drawn by the current sensing device.

Media destruction verification apparatus

A verification apparatus securable to a media destruction device to document sanitization processes. The apparatus includes a SSD disk inlet, an SSD disk outlet constructed and arranged to align with an opening to the media destruction device, and a SSD disk ejection outlet. A carrier drum having a receptacle for holding the SSD disk in a first position, rotatable to a second position for placement of the SSD disk in front of a scanner camera, rotatable to a third position for aligning the SSD disk to a media destruction device inlet if the media disk was properly scanned, and rotatable to a fourth position for aligning the SSD disk to the ejection outlet if the media disk was not properly scanned. Pseudo random codes are transmitted and received during a sanitization procedure to assure the SSD disk has sanitized without interruption.

Efficiently sanitizing a solid state drive (SSD)

A low-cost, portable, destructive sanitization method for solid state drives (SSDs) is provided. Preferably, an SSD is destroyed by disintegration within a given time period (approximately 30 minutes or less) using a blending device operating at a given peak power, e.g., greater than 450 W. A pulverizing agent may be admixed with pieces of an SSD printed circuit board prior to initiating the disintegration process to increase the number of particle collisions in a processing/blending chamber. The pulverizing agent may also contain moisture that mitigates suspension of processed SDD particles in the surrounding air (when the mixing chamber is opened). The overall process may be video-recorded for compliance purposes.

Product verification for hard drive data destroying device

A system and method for physically destroying the data storage portion of electronic media electronic storage devices such as hard disk drives, solid state drives and hybrid hard drives that comprises a rotatable milling cutter and a cradle for locating the media electronic storage device in a positioned to engage the milling cutter. An integrated computer is included containing a data base of various parameters of different types of hard drives available. A scanning system determines information about the type of media electronic storage device being introduced in the system to be destroyed and conveys the such information to the computer whereby the data base may be used to provide information to properly locate the cradle and milling cutter to destroy the data storage portion and for printing out a certificate of destruction specifically identifying the hard drive that has had it data destroyed. A slug cutter is provided to retrieve slugs containing the rare earth metal after the data storage portion is destroyed.

Disclosed is an apparatus for destroying the operational aspects and electronic media of a Solid State Drive (SSD) yet maintaining the physical shape of the SSD for identification. The apparatus includes a crusher box having counter-rotating rollers that are intermeshed to provide a high speed feed of an SSD wherein teeth formed on the rollers render the electron media non-accessible and impart a distinctive waffle like appearance for ease of identifying destroyed SSD's. A VFD-PID controller is used to vary the speed of an electric motor 50 with the PID having a feedback signal that allows for various target values to be set.

Solid state drive disintegrator

A device to reduce solid state drives (SSD) and the like digital media storage devices into particles less than 2 mm maximum edge length. The device is particularly adapted to disintegrating 1.8 and 2.5 solid state drives at a rate of about 360 HDD/hr or 720 SSD/hr with a throughput of about 10 seconds. A blade assembly is designed to provide multiple cutting angles while rotating at 520 rpm to maintain a low decibel rating.
