System, Apparatuses, and Methods for Improving the Operation of a Turbine by Using Electrostatic Precipitation
20170157622 · 2017-06-08 ·

Embodiments of the invention involve the application of a disk-in-tube type of wet or dry ESP (electrostatic precipitation) technology for the capture/removal of airborne particles entering a gas turbine compressor. This provides an effective method of particulate removal without the inefficiencies associated with conventional filtering techniques. Embodiments of the innovative approach also eliminate the inlet airstream blocking effect of a conventional filter, thus making its use and operation adaptable to different operating environments and processes that require clean input air streams (including industrial manufacturing processes, power generators, combined turbine and fluid recapture systems for use in heating and cooling, etc.).

ELECTRICAL DISCHARGE TYPE AIR CLEANER

An electrical discharge type air cleaner is provided. The air cleaner includes a dust collecting tank accommodating liquid, a housing accommodating the dust collecting tank, an air supplying portion supplying air to the dust collecting tank, an air discharging portion discharging the air from the dust collecting tank and having an air discharging tube facing a surface of the liquid, a plurality of discharge electrodes disposed at the air discharging tube, a charging portion in the dust collecting tank, and a rotary vane forming a vortex in the liquid. The charging portion charges the liquid with a polarity opposite to a polarity of the discharge electrodes such that an electric field is formed between the discharge electrodes and the liquid and pollutants in the air are collected into the liquid. A distance between the surface of the liquid ad the discharge electrode is maintained within a predetermined distance range.

Air purifier

An air purifier is disclosed having a bubble generator configured to generate fine air bubbles with a diameter of about 50 m or less and a negative electrical charge. The bubble generator is coupled to an air purification tank, which contains a liquid for purifying the air within the air bubbles, by dissolving impurities. The tank also has a positive electrode disposed within the liquid. The positive electrode is configured to attract the negatively charged air bubbles, thereby promoting defoaming and increasing the air throughput rate.

An apparatus and method for removing mercury from an incoming gas stream contaminated with mercury so as to deliver an outgoing gas stream free of the removed mercury introduces ozone into the gas stream to deposit mercury carried by the gas stream on separator elements so as to remove the deposited mercury from the gas stream. The deposited mercury is washed off of the separator elements, and the removed mercury is collected for further processing.

Electrostatic precipitator

An electrostatic precipitator for introducing sub-millimeter sized particles into a carrier material. The carrier material has a melting point which lies above 0 C., preferably above room temperature. The electrostatic precipitator comprises a casing having an inlet for inserting a gas flow into the casing and having an outlet for guiding a gas flow out of the casing. A channel for passing the gas flow from the inlet to the outlet is provided. A discharge electrode is provided on a first side of the channel. A collecting electrode is provided at a second side of at least a part of the channel. The electrostatic precipitator applies an electric field between the discharge electrode and the collecting electrode. A receiving volume is provided with a molten material as carrier material.
