Vessel and method for treating contaminated water

A method for removing immiscible fluid from contaminated water includes at least one chamber; an injection line in fluid communication with an inlet of the one chamber; bubble generation means in fluid communication with the injection line for injecting gas bubbles into the injection line and allowing mixing in the injection line of the gas bubbles and the contaminated water to form an inlet fluid; an inlet weir within the chamber adjacent the inlet; an immiscible fluid weir within the chamber; a trough for collecting the immiscible fluid and allowing the immiscible fluid to flow out of the at least one chamber through an immiscible fluid outlet; and a cleaned water outlet generally at the bottom of the chamber.

Process for producing biodiesel and related products

There is described a process for producing biodiesel and related products from mixtures. There is also described a process for producing precursors and feedstock materials for producing biodiesel and related products. The processes use esterification and trans-esterification, separation and purification. Other process steps such as acidification and distillation can also be used.

Fractionated stillage separation and feed products

This disclosure describes methods to separate solids from liquids in a production facility. A process separates components in the process stream by applying non-condensable media to create density differences and then using a mechanical device to separate the solids from the liquids based on the density difference. The process produces the liquids and solids, which may be further processed to create valuable animal feed products.

Pressure controlled gas flotation

A method to remove oil from an oily water stream includes the step of pressure controlling a release of dissolved gases from the stream as the stream passes through two or more stages of gas flotation treatment. The operating pressure of the first stage of flotation treatment is purposefully reduced relative to that of an upstream unit so that a certain controlled percent volume of dissolved gases is released. The operating pressure of the second stage of flotation treatment is then purposefully reduced relative to that of the first stage so that another controlled percent volume of dissolved gases is released. Any subsequent flotation treatment stage is at a lower operating pressure than that of the previous stage so that the subsequent treatment stage releases a controlled percent volume of dissolved gases. By controlling the operating pressure in this way, overall separation performance is improved.

ULTRAFINE BUBBLE CLEANING METHOD USING ULTRAFINE BUBBLE-CONTAINING LIQUID, APPARATUS THEREFOR, AND DISSOLVED AIR FLOATATION APPARATUS

An ultrafine bubble cleaning apparatus uses a liquid containing ultrafine bubbles having a size of less than 30 nm to rinse fine particles adhered to soil, sand, etc. to separate and collect the fine particles. The ultrafine bubble cleaning apparatus includes a water tank-shaped reservoir, a stirring device, a supernatant discharge device including a pump for discharging a supernatant of the liquid in the reservoir, and a sedimentation extraction device. Substances are loaded into the ultrafine bubble-containing liquid stored in the reservoir, and the ultrafine bubble-containing liquid is repeatedly brought into contact with the surface of the substance using the stirring device. When ultrafine bubbles get into a space between fine metal particles adhered to the surfaces, cracks, and pits of the substances to be cleaned (including metal ions) and fine particles of organic substances including a solvent, a chemical, and oil, the fine particles are separated and floated.

METHOD FOR REDUCING OR CONTROLLING WASTEWATER AND POLLUTANT FROM EMULSION POLYMERIZATION RESIN PRODUCTION
20190046948 · 2019-02-14 ·

The present invention provides a method for reducing or controlling wastewater and pollutant from emulsion polymerization resin production, comprising the following steps: (1) optimizing an emulsion polymerization reactor to lengthen a cleaning interval of the reactor so as to reduce the volumes of reactor cleaning wastewater and pollutant discharge; (2) demulsifying latex filter cleaning wastewater and removing a latex material so as to reduce the volume of the pollutant discharge; (3) demulsifying the highly concentrated reactor cleaning wastewater, then performing flotation recovery; (4) mixing graft polymerization wastewater and 1,3-diene polymerization wastewater, then performing demulsification; (5) mixing the demulsified latex wastewater and condensation and drying wastewater, then performing a coagulation and dissolved air flotation treatment; and (6) implementing a biological treatment process on the effluent from the coagulation and dissolved air flotation treatment to remove an organic material, nitrogen and phosphorus. The method of the present invention has the characteristics of reducing pollutants at a source, increasing product yield, saving resources, using different treatment according to wastewater property, and lowering treatment cost.

Nanobubbles for enhanced interaction between solids and gas volumes

Nanobubbles are employed to bridge microbubbles and non-buoyant particles, thereby creating sufficient capillary forces between the particles and microbubbles such that relatively large, heavy particles can be separated from an aqueous slurry. Nanobubbles are formed on hydrophobic particle surfaces. The microbubbles, which function as collecting air bubbles, form attachments with the particles. The nanobubbles create additional capillary attachment forces between the particles and microbubbles, allowing the microbubbles to rise with the attached particles to the top of the slurry for separation and recovery.
