Cooling Device for a Drive of a Solid Bowl Screw Centrifuge
A drive device for a solid bowl screw centrifuge includes a motor for rotating a drum of the centrifuge, a transmission which is connected between the motor and the drum, and a cooling device for cooling the transmission during operation when the drum is rotating. The cooling device is an annular body which is fitted on the outside of the transmission and has an air guiding device that conducts air from farther outwards radially inwards onto a surface of the transmission.
RED BLOOD CELL ELUTRIATION WASH SYSTEM
A funnel element having an open end and a closed pointed end configured to receive a multi-component fluid containing a solid fraction. The solid fraction can comprise cellular material that sediments toward the closed pointed end to form a cell pack. A wash fluid can be pumped through the cell pack to entrain microparticles and soluble contaminants. The wash fluid can be introduced into the funnel element below the cell pack such that the wash fluid percolates through the cell pack. The percolating wash fluid can dislodge microparticles or other contaminants trapped within the cell pack. Additional wash fluids can be added to funnel element where excess wash fluids overflow from the funnel element through the open end of the funnel element.
Instrument for automated sample preparation by combination homogenization and clarification
Disclosed herein are instruments and methods for performing both sample homogenization and sample clarification by centrifugation with a single instrument without transferring the sample to a new sample container and without removing or repositioning the sample container within the instrument. In some embodiments, the instrument may automatically perform centrifugation after homogenization. In other embodiments, the instrument may perform both homogenization and centrifugation simultaneously.

A centrifugal separator for separating solid particles from a liquid mixture includes a rotor body. The rotor body has a separation chamber with an inlet for the liquid mixture, one or more liquid outlets for a liquid separated from the liquid mixture, a sludge outlet for the separated solid particles, a screw conveyor adapted to rotate in the rotor body, at a speed differing from the rotational speed of the rotor body, for transporting the separated solid particles in the separation chamber towards and out of the sludge outlet, a drive arrangement adapted to rotate the rotor body and the screw conveyor at their respective speeds, and a control unit which is adapted to control the drive arrangement to rotate the rotor body at a first speed during a separation phase and at a second speed, which is lower than the first speed, during a particle discharge phase.
Control system for a decanter centrifuge
A torque sensing device capable of measuring the force exerted by a torque arm on a lever is positioned between the torque arm and the lever. The torque arm is connected to the pinion of a planetary gearbox for rotating the bowl and screw conveyer of a decanter centrifuge at different speeds. The torque sensing device measures the torque between the pinion gear and the planetary gearbox. The sensor can be connected to a controller which can reduce the flow of the liquid/solid mixture to the decanter centrifuge thereby/reducing the torque and avoiding substantial damage to the planetary gearbox.
Centrifuge and method for monitoring a torque
A solid bowl screw centrifuge for processing drilling muds includes a rotatable drum and a rotatable screw. The centrifuge has a drive device for driving the drum and the screw with a drive motor as well as a gear assembly for producing a differential rotational speed between the drum and the screw when the centrifuge is in operation. A gear input shaft of the gear assembly is rotationally fixed by an overload lever arm that can be triggered in the event of a torque overload. The overload lever arm is directly and detachably connected with one end thereof and at a radial distance from the rotation axis of the gear input shaft to the gear input shaft or to a part that is connected thereto in a rotationally fixed manner. A method is provided for monitoring the torque on the gear input shaft.

A method and system for separating a suspension into solid and fluid components. The suspension is centrifuged about a substantially vertical axis of rotation to concentrate solid components in a first lower flow stream and fluid components in a first upper flow stream. The first upper flow stream may be centrifuged about a substantially vertical axis of rotation to concentrate solid components in a second lower flow stream and fluid components in a second upper flow stream. The first lower flow stream, the second lower flow stream, or both, may be centrifuged about a substantially horizontal axis of rotation to separate water from stackable dry tailings. The method and system may be applied to separation of tailings or other suspensions.
