An apparatus may include a first layer being substantially transparent. A second layer may be coupled to the first layer. The second layer may be substantially absorbent to infrared radiation. The second layer and the first layer may collectively define a set of wells. The first layer may define a base for each well of the set of wells. The second layer may define an opening for each well of the set of wells. At least one of the first layer and the second layer may define a sidewall for each well of the set of wells.
Continuous flow separation chamber
A continuous flow centrifuge bowl includes a rotatable outer body, and a top and bottom core that are rotatable with the outer body. The bottom core has a wall extending proximally from a bottom wall. The proximally extending wall is radially outward from at least a portion of the top core and, together with the top core, defines a primary separation region in which initial separation of the whole blood occurs. The bowl may also have a secondary separation region located between the top core and the outer body, and a rotary seal that couples an inlet port and two outlet ports to the outer body. The inlet port may be connected to an inlet tube that extends distally into a whole blood introduction region. Additionally, one of the outlet ports may be connected to an extraction tube that extends into a region below the bottom core.
Centrifugal separation container, and method for moving substances inside centrifugal separation container
Provided is a centrifugal separation container for separating a material from tissue and body fluids by using a centrifugal force, including: a first container; a second container; a first piston positioned in the inside of the first container and configured to be movable up and down in the inside of the first container; an elastic body positioned below the first piston in the inside of the first container and configured to elastically bias the first piston upward; a first connecting duct having one end connected to the first container and the other end connected to the second container; and a first control valve operating by a centrifugal force and configured to open and close the first connecting duct.
APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR CLEAN TRANSFER OF CENTRIFUGED MATERIALS
A transfer container for a fluid includes a tube, the tube including a conical portion at one end, the tube defining an interior space and one or more fluid passages configured to allow flow of fluid into or out of the interior space of the tube. The transfer container also includes a connector configured to seal the end of the conical portion when the connector is joined only to the conical portion and a pressure control mechanism configured to increase or decrease a pressure in the interior space of the tube. The transfer container can be used in a method including connecting fluid lines to the fluid passages, adding a fluid including cryoprotectant and cells, centrifuging the transfer container, and then connecting the transfer container to a second fluid transfer container containing another fluid. This allows the sterile transfer of fluids and separation of cells from cryoprotectant.
Blood separation systems and methods employing centrifugal and spinning membrane separation techniques
Systems and methods are provided for separating blood into two or more components. A blood separation system includes a blood separation device and a fluid flow circuit configured to be mounted to the blood separation device. The blood separation device includes a centrifugal separator and a spinning membrane separator drive unit incorporated into a common case, which allows for fluid separation by two different methods. Depending on the separation procedure to be carried out, the fluid flow circuit paired with the blood separation device may include only one separation chamber configured to be mounted to the centrifugal separator or spinning membrane separator drive unit or two separation chambers, with one being mounted to the centrifugal separator and the other to the spinning membrane separator drive unit. The system may be used to separate and collect any combination of red blood cells, plasma, and platelets.
Blood component separation device
A blood component separation device for separating a plurality of blood components from blood sampled from a blood donor, and collecting platelets, includes: an operation unit that calculates a predicted platelet recovery rate from a hematocrit value of the blood and a platelet concentration of the blood, and calculates a recommended processing amount of the blood recommended for collecting a target number of units of platelets on the basis of the calculated predicted platelet recovery rate, wherein the operating unit sets the predicted platelet recovery rate calculated from any the hematocrit value and any the platelet concentration to be smaller by a predetermined value a when the blood donor is female than that when the blood donor is male.
CENTRIFUGAL FIELD-FLOW FRACTIONATION DEVICE INCLUDING ARC-SHAPED CHANNEL MEMBER
Provided is a centrifugal field-flow fractionation device capable of suppressing deformation of a channel member. Pressure in a channel formed inside the channel member in a centrifugal field-flow fractionation device 1 is increased by a pressure increasing mechanism 8 provided downstream of the centrifugal field-flow fractionation device 1. In this manner, an inner surface of the channel is pressed outward by a liquid sample in the channel, and an outer peripheral surface and an inner peripheral surface of the channel member can be suppressed from being recessed toward the channel side.
Multi-unit blood processor with volume prediction
Method and Apparatus for predicting the volume of a component separated from a composite fluid by predicting the volume of the composite fluid from sensed pressure and predicting the volume of other separated components from sensed movement of the other components to collection bags.
Systems And Methods For Therapeutic Platelet Depletion
Systems and methods are provided for depleting platelets from blood. The system includes a multi-stage blood separation chamber in which blood is separated into red blood cells and platelet-rich plasma. The platelet-rich plasma is conveyed from a first stage of the chamber to a second stage, where it is separated into platelets and platelet-poor plasma. The platelet-poor plasma is conveyed out of the chamber while the platelets are allowed to accumulate in the second stage of the chamber. When a controller of the system has determined that the maximum chamber capacity of platelets has been accumulated in the second stage of the chamber, the platelets are conveyed out of the chamber to a waste container. The cycle of separating blood into its components, accumulating platelets in the chamber, and then flushing the platelets from the chamber is repeated until a target platelet concentration of the blood is achieved.
