DEVICES AND METHODS FOR PORTABLE AND COMPACT CENTRIFUGATION

Embodiments of a portable and compact centrifugal system are described, comprising a centrifuge body comprising a motor; and a monolithic rotor, suitable for manufacturing in a straight-pull injection mold, with an attachment hub, fixed retainer for exactly one sample tube, arms for the retainer, and a thin, aerodynamic counterweight. Embodiments include a rotor with a counterweight and wherein the tube retainer and the counterweight are angled downward; a central clearance volume for manual placement of a sample tube; and dimensions optimized to just fill a fixed rotational circle. Embodiments include a centrifuge with: an enclosure, hinged lid, lid-closure sensor, motor, and automatic timer; free of both user controls and user displays.

SYSTEMS OF COMMUNICATING CENTRIFUGE STATUS BY LED ILLUMINATOR OF CENTRIFUGE HOUSING
20210220842 · 2021-07-22 ·

A centrifuge includes light sources to provide different illumination states depending on the status of the centrifuge to communicate the status of the centrifuge. The light sources, when activated, project light in the centrifuge chamber and through the centrifuge lid. The light sources are preferably light-emitting diodes. The illumination state is visible up to at least a distance from the centrifuge at which no other visual information on the centrifuge is available. The illumination states allow staff to visually identify the status of a centrifuge from a distance and may reduce turnaround times by enabling staff to identify a completed centrifuge cycle more quickly, reduce staff time wasted checking on the status of a centrifuge, and reduce turnaround time wasted as a result of specimens sitting in a centrifuge after the centrifuge cycle has completed.

TEMPERATURE-CONTROLLED CENTRIFUGE WITH CRASH PROTECTION
20210252526 · 2021-08-19 · ·

A centrifuge and a method for preventing ignition of combustible temperature-control media in centrifuges after a crash of the centrifuge rotor are presented. It is monitored whether the pressure in the evaporator lies below a specified minimum pressure and/or above a specified maximum pressure. Measures to prevent ignition of the temperature-control medium can be taken in a targeted manner. In the event that the pressure lies below a minimum pressure, it must be assumed that either a leak or a crash is present, wherein a leak leads to a slow release of combustible temperature-control medium and a crash leads to an sudden release of combustible temperature-control medium. If the pressure lies above a maximum pressure, there is a risk that there is a large amount of combustible temperature-control medium in the evaporator which could be ignited in the event of a crash.

Centrifuge and centrifuge rotor for suppressing buoyancy

Provided is a centrifuge. In a centrifuge having a rotor with a rotor body that holds a sample and that is rapidly rotated, an inclined surface that extends upward as it extends radially outward is formed on an upper-side outer peripheral portion of the rotor, in a region that is at a radially outward side and at an upper side of the outer edge of an opening. The inclined surface is a continuous ring-like inclined surface that has the same cross-sectional shape in the circumferential direction and is formed into a straight-line shape or a curved-line shape in cross-section along a rotation central axis. Although winds occur during high-speed rotation of the rotor, the winds are rectified by the inclined surface, and a component force for pressing the rotor body in a downward direction acts thereon.
