Many devices with “limbs” or “arms” are susceptible to damage when a user bends or twists a joint of the limb or arm beyond its design point or in a direction other than intended. This is common with children's toys. Accordingly, it would be beneficial to provide children with toys employing fluidic actuators that can be bent, twisted, deformed and yet recover subsequently allowing the intended motion to be performed. Further, it would be beneficial by providing devices that employ fluidic actuators, and hence are essentially non-mechanical, to provide users not only of toys but other devices with driving mechanisms that are not susceptible to wear-out such as, by stripping drive gears, etc., thereby increasing their reliability and reducing noise. Fluidic devices allow for high efficiency, high power to size ratio, low cost, limited or single moving part(s) and allow for mechanical springless designs as well as functional reduction by providing a piston which is both pump and vibrator.

FLEXIBLE LINER WITH INNER AND OUTER LAYERS FOR USE WITH A LIQUID-RECEIVING BASIN
20210137782 · 2021-05-13 ·

A liner for use with a basin to contain a liquid features a plurality of bodies of flexible plastic. Portions of an inner face of a first body of flexible plastic are joined to corresponding portions of an inner face of a second body of flexible plastic, through which a plurality of openings are formed, to provide a multi-layer body of flexible plastic.

Other portions of the inner face of the first body of flexible plastic are not joined to corresponding other portions of the inner face of the second body of flexible plastic, defining an air conduit between the first body of flexible plastic and the second body of flexible plastic for guiding pressurized air substantially from an air discharge apparatus.

Apparatus for use with a pressure-regulating device

An apparatus for use in applying a therapy to a human limb includes a bag for surrounding all or part of the limb. The apparatus also includes a connection arrangement, mounted to a wall of the bag in a distal portion of the bag, that enables therethrough a flow of a gas between a pressure-regulating device and an interior space of the bag. The apparatus also includes a gas-permeable strip affixed to an interior surface of the bag and having a length equal to at least 70% of the bag's length. The distal end of the strip is in communication with the connection arrangement in the distal portion of the bag, and a proximal end of the strip is disposed in a proximal portion of the bag. The strip contains a partially compressible, gas-permeable material forming a lengthwise gas-flow pathway.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TREATMENT OF HYPERHIDROSIS

A method and apparatus to treat hyperhidrosis is provided in which a battery provides a milliampere electrical current to the inside of a waterproof glove containing water and sealed to the user's arm so that circulation is not unduly restricted while the user can raise the water-filled gloves and hands above the user's head without leaking. A tapered portion on the proximal end of each glove is folded inside the glove to seal against the user's arm to form a pocket between the tapered portion which seals against the user's arms, and part of a wrist portion of the glove located radially outward of the tapered portion. When the user's gloves and hands rotate upward, water collects in the pocket(s) while the tapered portion provides a leakproof seal, thus allowing manual manipulation while wearing the water-filled gloves.

Systems and methods for affecting metabolism, such as the treatment of metabolic syndrome are disclosed. A method for treating metabolic syndrome can include one or more of the steps including identifying a region of the patient comprising glabrous tissue; positioning the region of the patient comprising glabrous tissue into an enclosed chamber; adjusting the relative humidity of the enclosed chamber sufficient to create a physiologic metabolic effect; and activating a convection fan within the chamber to promote heat transfer from the glabrous tissue. The method need not involve altering the temperature within the enclosed chamber.
