Tacky netting for collecting dirt and paint overspray
10946403 · 2021-03-16 ·

A flexible sheet collects overspray and keeps spray booth environments clean, thereby reducing or eliminating dust and foreign matter from landing on wet painted surfaces which might otherwise result in a paint surface defect. The flexible sheet comprises a woven or non-woven mesh or net material having apertures or perforations that penetrate through the sheet. The sheet is impregnated with a tacky substance, such that paint overspray and dirt particles cling to the impregnated sheet. In the preferred embodiment, the tacky substance is a wax-based substance, more preferably a natural or synthetic beeswax-based substance. The material may be made from polymeric filaments of nylon or other natural or synthetic fibers, threads or strands. The flexible sheet of material may be provided in roll form for use. Method of making a tacky netting are also disclosed. The product is particularly useful in vehicle spray-booth applications.

Methods and systems for collecting droplets of strain hardening viscoelastic fluids in a spray

An aerosol creation system can include a pair of counter-rotating rollers configured to be positioned adjacent each other and define a nip between each other, a fluid source configured to provide a fluid to the nip, a driving element configured to drive the pair of counter-rotating rollers to rotate in counter rotation with respect to each other and cause the fluid to be drawn through the nip, and a collection shell configured to be positioned substantially around the pair of counter-rotating rollers, the collection shell having a nozzle configured to allow passage of the fluid from the nip.

Spray Gun and Hose Cover

A spray gun cover is made of flashspun high-density polyethylene fibers (e.g., Tyvek), another cloth-like material, plastic, or fabric. The cover is self-sustaining, and an elastic material is disposed at openings of the cover to secure the cover at the nozzle around the nozzle opening of the spray gun cover and at the back of the spray gun around a large opening of the spray gun cover. Through the cover, the paint cup or reservoir and the spray gun are covered and protected from airborne fluid or dry particles that bounce back from the surface of the item being sprayed with paint, stain, or other fluid (overspray). Additionally, an air hose cover is also made of flashspun high-density polyethylene fibers or the like and covers and protects an air hose for a spray gun.

SPRAYING SYSTEM FOR FOOTWEAR

The manufacturing of footwear includes the joining of components. The joining may be accomplished with adhesive. The adhesive, such as a polyurethane, is applied as a single-sided adhesive to a footwear component. The application of the adhesive can contaminate the system that is applying the adhesive with intentional over spray of the footwear component. The over spray ensures adequate coverage of the footwear component to allow a sufficient bond. A masking platform of the system masks portions of the system to limit the contamination caused by the over spray. Additionally, material brushes and scrapers may engage with components of the system to remove or limit adhesive contamination on those components. A vision system maps a surface of the footwear component to ensure the adhesive is applied for the specific article.

Methods and systems for creating aerosols

A method of creating aerosols includes drawing a fluid from a fluid source through a first nip, the first nip defined between a first roller and an inner surface of a ring, the first nip having an upstream side and a downstream side, drawing the fluid from the fluid source through a second nip, the second nip defined between a second roller and the inner surface of the ring, the second roller positioned adjacent to and spaced apart from the first roller in a circular configuration, the second nip having an upstream side and a downstream side, stretching the fluid between diverging surfaces of the first roller and the inner surface of the ring on the downstream side of the first nip to form a first fluid filament, stretching the fluid between diverging surface of the second roller and the inner surface of the ring on the downstream side of the second nip to form a second fluid filament, causing the first fluid filament to break into a plurality of first droplets, and causing the second fluid filament to break into a plurality of second droplets.
