A coating apparatus applies a liquid material to a surface of a target object using a coating needle. The coating apparatus includes a coating unit having a coating needle and a container to hold a liquid material, a driving device configured to move the coating needle up and down, a Z-axis table configured to move the coating unit up and down, and a controller configured to drive the driving device and the Z-axis table to perform a coating operation. The controller adjusts the coating amount of the liquid material by controlling the driving device and the Z-axis table in accordance with an operation parameter set corresponding to the coating unit attached.

A height detection apparatus successively changes the brightness of white light from a first level to a second level in accordance with a position of a Z stage and captures an image of interference light while moving a two-beam interference objective lens relative to a paste film in an optical axis direction, detects, as a focus position, a position of the Z stage where the intensity of interference light is highest in a period during which the brightness of white light is set to the first or second level, for each pixel of the captured image, and obtains the height of the paste film based on a detection result.

A liquid material unit capable of applying a liquid material having a high viscosity stably for a long time includes an application needle and a liquid material container. The liquid material container stores the liquid material. The liquid material container has a space that stores the liquid material and a hole that allows the application needle to pass through the space. A device for a lacquer transfer is disclosed having a transfer roller, the transfer roller includes a cylindrical support body, a first ring element, a second ring element, and a tire, wherein the tire comprises a middle section forming a circumferential outer contact surface with several depressions. The transfer roller is configured to roll with the outer contact surface on a work surface of a workpiece for transferring lacquer from the outer contact surface and from the depressions to the work surface of the workpiece. The tire includes two annular end sections, which are attached to the support body resulting in two axially separated and circumferentially extending connections. The tire, the connections, and the outer shell of the support body are fluid-tight and arranged such that a fluid-tight main cavity is formed between the tire and the support body. The first and second ring elements are arranged in the main cavity and seated on the support body at a predefined distance in an axial direction (A) of the transfer roller from one another.
