A new and improved hot melt adhesive or other thermoplastic material dispensing system comprises two separate and independent rotary gear-type metering pumps with two separate and independent supply sources and fluid supply passageways, or two separate and independent sets of rotary gear-type metering pumps with two separate and independent supply sources and fluid supply passageways, which are able to independently output precisely metered amounts of the hot melt adhesive materials simultaneously onto a particularly substrate through suitable output devices so as to result in a multitude of different hot melt adhesive patterns and at different locations.

A fluid dispensing apparatus is disclosed. Systems include an in-line or linear bladder apparatus configured to expand to collect a charge of fluid, and contract to assist with fluid delivery and dispensing. During a dispense-off period process fluid can collect in this bladder after the process fluid is pushed through a fine filter (micro filter). A given filtration rate can be less than a dispense rate and thus the system herein compensates for filter-lag that often accompanies fluid filtering for microfabrication, while providing a generally linear configuration that reduces chances for defect creation.

An apparatus for melting and dispensing thermoplastic material is provided that includes an un-heated hopper having an inlet for receiving particles of a thermoplastic material and an outlet for discharging the particles and a heated manifold including at least one cavity formed therein and having an inlet and an outlet the inlet communicating with the outlet of the hopper for receipt of the particles from the hopper. The hopper is disposed external of the heated manifold. The heated manifold is effective for melting the particles into molten thermoplastic material therein. The apparatus further includes a pump having an inlet in fluid communication with the cavity. An outlet of the pump is in fluid communication with an inlet of a dispenser and an outlet of the dispenser is effective for dispensing the molten thermoplastic material therethrough.

At least one first temperature zone (6) is assigned to the dosing material reservoir (70) and at least one second temperature zone (6″) is assigned to the nozzle (40). Preferably, at least one of the temperature control devices (2, 2′, 2″), preferably at least the temperature control device (2) assigned to the dosing material reservoir (6), comprises a cooling device (3, 3′, 3″) having a cold source (93, 93′, 95, 99).

A method for controlling an ejector is disclosed, wherein the ejector comprises an actuator arrangement configured to eject a droplet of viscous medium onto a substrate, and wherein the droplet forms part of a sequence of a plurality of droplets. The method comprises obtaining a control parameter for controlling the operation of the actuator arrangement, and operating the actuator arrangement, using the control parameter, in order to eject the droplet. The obtained control parameter is based on at least one of: a time period between the droplet and a previous droplet in the sequence, a difference in target size of the droplet and a size of the previous droplet in the sequence, and the droplets position in the sequence.

The system may comprise: a rotatable chamber including: a first opening for receiving sealant; a hollow conduit arranged such that when gas accumulates in the center of the rotatable chamber when the rotatable chamber is rotating, the gas is ventable from the rotatable chamber; a second opening for receiving gas-less sealant from the rotatable chamber after the gas is vented from the hollow conduit; and a motor operatively configured to rotate the rotatable chamber; and a gas-less sealant applicator in fluid communication with the second opening of the rotatable chamber such that gas-less sealant released by the second opening is flowable into the applicator. The system may also include a robot arm including an end effector with a sealant dispensing nozzle. A method for applying sealant to an aircraft structure is also provided.
