A shape of the recoater blade is such that, when the recoater blade is positioned against the build surface, an angle between the recoater blade and a tangent at each radii of the build plate is substantially constant.

The post has two opposing slots extending upward from a bottom edge thereof, wherein the slots are sized to slide onto the flange.

The scrapper apparatus includes a plurality of scrapper fingers aligned substantially parallel to each other. The system also includes a contour guide coupled to the scrapper fingers. The contour guide is configured to guide movement of the scrapper fingers across a surface of a component having a slurry coating. The scrapper fingers conform to a contour profile of the surface to level the slurry coating on the surface of the component.

The compliance module comprises a biasing module arranged to urge the tool in the stroke direction to maintain contact between the tool and the wet coating such that the tool works the wet coating as the arm moves across the surface.
