The present disclosure provides a method and system by which a precise amount of a viscous fluid sealing compound can be dispensed at required locations through computer vision-based observation of the fluid deposited, its rate and amount of deposition and location; and that the dispensed fluid may be accurately shaped through robotic or other special purpose mechanism motion. The invention enables instant quality inspection of the dispensing process in terms of the locations, amounts and shapes of newly created seals.

The system and method may set and maintain a desired ratio of the multiple components by controlling, with a controller, a drive rate of respective pumps configured for propelling the components from a reservoir to a mixer or a dispenser. The controller may be responsive to at least one of a measured actual drive rate, an environmental condition, an actual usage of each component, and an operational parameter of the system, for adjusting a drive rate of the respective pumps to compensate for discrepancies that may affect the ratio of the multiple components.

The apparatus of the invention includes two containers for sealant components; a first drive, which is connected to two devices, each of which is able to convey one of the sealant components from its container; a drive controller; a mixing unit for mixing the sealant components conveyed from the containers, having an opening for applying the sealant to a component; and also, additionally, a compensating container with a compensating volume; and a second drive, which is connected to a piston which reaches into the compensating volume of the compensating container.

The compensating container in this arrangement is connected to the mixing unit. The first drive and the second drive can be dynamically controlled jointly by the drive controller.

COATING DEVICE AND ASSOCIATED COATING METHOD

Exemplary coating devices and exemplary coating methods for coating components with a coating agent, e.g., for painting motor vehicle body components with a paint, are disclosed. An exemplary coating device comprises an application device that applies the coating agent.
