11213849 · 2022-01-04 · ·

An apparatus for coating an inner surface of a medical tube includes a housing, an injection unit, a drying unit, and a supply unit. The housing defines an external shape of the apparatus and provides a workspace. The injection unit is positioned in an upper portion of the workspace and injects a coating fluid into a medical tube connected to a nozzle tip formed at a lower end thereof. The drying unit is positioned on the injection unit and dries the coating fluid introduced into the medical tube. The supply unit positioned in a lower portion of the workspace and collects a residual coating fluid discharged from a lower end of the medical tube and transfers the collected residual coating fluid to a supply valve of the injection unit. The apparatus can easily, uniformly, and efficiently coat the inner surface of a long medical tube such as a catheter.

Methods for residual material collection in laser-assisted deposition

In a laser-assisted deposition system, a uniform layer of material is coated onto a donor substrate at a coating system, and portions of the material are jetted from the donor substrate to a receiving substrate at a printing unit, leaving residual portions of the material on the donor substrate. In order to not waste the residual portions of the material, the donor substrate with the residual portions of the material is returned to the coating system where the residual portions of the material are aggregated into a blob and subsequently recoated onto the donor substrate. The blob may be formed by translating the residual portions of the material towards an interface formed by two coating rollers, a squeegee and the donor substrate, or a film and the donor substrate.

Hotmelt application system and process

System and process that continuously circulates hotmelt adhesive at a circulating pressure rate to apply hotmelt adhesive to a moving substrate on a substrate delivery conveyor. The system includes an adhesive delivery line connected to an elongated manifold, the manifold including: (i) a main internal fluid pathway in fluid communication with the adhesive delivery line and an adhesive return line, and (ii) an elongated heater providing a substantially constant internal temperature to the elongated manifold. An adhesive pump transporting hotmelt adhesive from the adhesive reservoir to the adhesive delivery line under pressure, the adhesive reservoir including a filter that filters hotmelt adhesive. A plurality of hotmelt spray heads in fluid communication with the main internal fluid pathway to dispense hotmelt adhesive onto the moving substrate. The adhesive return line in fluid communication with the adhesive pump and/or the adhesive reservoir to transport hotmelt adhesive from the elongated manifold.
