A dispenser (10) for dispensing a flowable material M has a container (12) having an outer wall (20) and membrane (14) collectively defining a first chamber (22) configured to contain the flowable material M. The membrane (14) has a thickness and a weld seam (40) wherein the weld seam (40) has a thickness less than the thickness of the membrane (14). A fracturing mechanism (16) is operably connected to the container (12). The fracturing mechanism (16) has an extending member (64) projecting from the outer wall (20) of the container (12). The extending member (64) has a projection (66) positioned proximate the membrane (14), wherein in response to deflection of the extending member (64), the projection (66) deflects the outer wall (20) proximate the membrane (14) wherein the weld seam (40) fractures creating an opening (41) through the membrane (14) configured to allow the flowable material M to pass therethrough and from the dispenser (10).

Method for producing a cartridge and cartridge

A cartridge for a dispensing device contains at least one elongate film pouch, which is inherently non-rigid and which has a chamber for receiving a composition. The cartridge also contains a head part for interacting with the film pouch. The film pouch has an opening on a side facing the head part, which is closed by a cover. The cover has a predetermined breaking region. A method can be used for producing such a cartridge.

A piston for a collapsible cartridge for dispensing a material, the piston includes a rigid portion and a flexible portion. The rigid portion has a first diameter, a first end and a second end. The first end is configured to be disposed in a material dispensing direction. The flexible portion has a second diameter less than the first diameter, a first end disposed in the material dispensing direction and a second end disposed in an opposite direction. The flexible portion is disposed on the first end of the rigid portion such that the second end of the flexible portion is disposed to face the first end of the rigid portion. The flexible portion is configured to radially expand and longitudinally compress upon a force applied to the first end of the flexible portion to compress the collapsible cartridge between the flexible portion and an interior surface of a support cartridge.

Dispenser actuator assembly

A dispenser actuator assembly (100) for actuating a dispenser (10) has a base member (102) operably connected to an actuator assembly (104). The dispenser (10) is in the form of a glass ampoule assembly (10) having a rupturable glass ampoule (12) containing a flowable material (M). The glass ampoule (12) is contained within an outer container (14). The glass ampoule assembly (10) has an applicator (16) positioned in the outer container (14). The dispenser actuator assembly (100) has the base member (102) that is configured to mount on the outer container (14). The actuator assembly (104) has a first actuator arm (132a) and a second actuator arm (132b) each pivotally connected to the base member (102). The first actuator arm (132a) has a first protrusion (150a) depending therefrom and the second actuator arm (132b) has a second protrusion (150b) depending therefrom. The first actuator arm (132a) and the second actuator arm (132b) are pivotable such that the first protrusion (150a) and the second protrusion (150b) engage the outer container (14) to rupture the glass ampoule (12).

The invention relates to an application device (1) for applying a viscous material onto a substrate, comprising: an inner container (3) for accommodating the viscous material, said inner container having a discharge opening (18); an outer casing (2) surrounding the inner container (3) and having a substantially hollow-cylindrical neck region (6) with an inner diameter D1 and an opening (7) formed in the neck region (6); and an applicator (4) connected to the outer casing (2), wherein, by means of pressure on the outer casing (2), the viscous material can be conveyed out of the inner container (3) into the applicator (4) and by means of said applicator can be applied onto a substrate, wherein the application device (1) has a ventilation device, comprising an insert (19), which is connected air-tightly to the inner container (3) in the region of the discharge opening (18), is substantially hollow-cylindrical and has an outer diameter D2, wherein the outer diameter D2 of the insert (19) is smaller than the inner diameter D1 of the neck region (6) of the outer casing (2), and wherein the insert (19) has, on its outside, latching means (22) with the aid of which the insert is latched in the inserted position within the neck region (6) of the outer casing (2), wherein, in this inserted position, as a result of the different diameters D1 and D2, an annular gap is formed between the insert (19) and the neck region (6) of the outer casing (2), through which annular gap air can flow from outside into the intermediate space between the outer casing (2) and the inner container (3) and vice versa, and wherein the connection between the applicator (4) and the outer casing (2) is also permeable to air and the applicator (4) comprises a sealing means (25) by means of which, when the applicator (4) is in the inserted position, the inner volume of the inner container (3) is sealed off in an air-tight and leak-proof manner from the intermediate space between the outer casing (2) and the inner container (3). A cap for receiving over an end of a flexible tube or chub. The cap comprises a hollow body member having a downwardly depending skirt and an opening through which material from within the flexible tube or chub can be extruded. Within the hollow body member is a hollow compartment that is in part defined by the skit and that receives the flexible tube or chub with the skirt sealingly received thereabout. Within the hollow compartment there is situated a plurality of cutters configured to pierce the flexible tube or chub upon compressing the flexible tube or chub into the cap. Upon the piercing of the flexible tube or chub, compressive force applied to the flexible tube or chub causes material therein to flow into the hollow compartment and through the opening.

A dispenser actuator assembly (100) has base member (102) and an actuator arm (104) that is configured to crush a glass ampoule assembly (10). The glass ampoule assembly (10) has a rupturable glass ampoule (12) containing a flowable material (M). The glass ampoule (12) is contained within an outer container (14), the outer container (14) having a first open end (22) and a second closed end (24). The glass ampoule assembly (10) has an applicator (16) positioned in the first open end (22). The dispenser actuator assembly (100) has the base member (102) that is configured to mount on the outer container (14). The actuator arm (104) is pivotally connected to the base member (102). The actuator arm (104) is pivotable from a first position to a second position that is configured to engage the outer container (14) to crush the glass ampoule (12) wherein the flowable material (M) is dispensed from the glass ampoule assembly (10).

Method of providing a personalized skin care composition where the composition is mixed with a mixing element that does not contact the ingredients during mixing

A personalized skin care system that includes a dispensing device, at least one removable cartridge, a single-dose pod, and a mixing element. The removable cartridge contains a sufficient amount of skin care active to make several doses of a personalized skin care composition. The single-use pod contains a sufficient amount of base ingredient to make a single dose of personalized care composition. To provide a personalized skin care composition, one or more personalization factors are inputted into the system. The hermetically-sealed, single-use pod is placed in the dispensing device such that it is in fluid communication with the replaceable cartridge containing the skin care active. The skin care active(s) is transported to the single-dose pod and mixed with the mixing element. However, the mixing element does not come into contact with the ingredients inside the single-use pod. The resulting personalized skin care composition can then be dispensed to a user.
