Applicator that allows easy mounting and removal of cartridge

A cartridge fitting portion of a cylindrical syringe made of a resin includes an end surface opening portion, a continuous opening portion continuous with the end surface opening portion, opened in a radial direction, and extending in an extending direction, and a recess portion configured to communicate with the end surface opening portion, the continuous opening portion, and an internal passage in a cylindrical body. The recess portion includes a flange fitting recess to be fitted with a flange portion of a cartridge, and a cylindrical portion fitting recess that communicates with the flange fitting recess and is fitted with a part of the cylindrical portion. A wall portion surrounding the cylindrical portion fitting recess of the cartridge fitting portion is configured to warp into snap engagement with the part of the cylindrical portion when the part of the cylindrical portion is inserted from the continuous opening portion.

DUAL FUNCTIONALITY ENDO-INSTRUMENTS AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME

Apparatuses and methods for extruding a dental filling material into a tooth. The extrusion is accomplished by harnessing a combination of motor power (such as from an electrical motor) and spring loaded power. This combination overcomes the shortcomings of each of these power sources. In addition, because this combination significantly reduces battery power requirements, it allows for more thermal heating, down-packing, and obturation to be performed than would otherwise be possible.

Telescoping Syringe with One-Way Valve
20180086544 · 2018-03-29 ·

A telescoping syringe suitable for use with medications and other flowable materials is presented. The telescoping syringe includes a one-way valve, a plunger, and a barrel. The valve includes a barrier, an outlet(s) through the barrier, and an annular extension extending from the barrier. The plunger includes an inlet(s) and a proximal wall fixed at one end of a first side wall. The valve directly contacts a distal end of the first wall so that an annular flange extending inward from the annular extension slidingly engages an annular groove along the first wall between first and second positions. The circumferential end of the first wall contacts the barrier in the first position to close the outlet(s). The circumferential end does not contact the barrier in the second position to open the outlet(s). A first reservoir is defined by the first wall, the proximal wall, and the valve. The inlet(s) permits gas to enter the first reservoir as fluid is transferred through the valve to a second reservoir. The barrel includes a second side wall with a nipple fixed to a distal wall at one end and an open end at another end. The plunger is extendable from and retractable into the barrel at the open end via slidable engagement between first and second walls. The second reservoir is defined by the distal wall, the second wall, and the valve.

Adapters, tips, and dental assemblies

An adapter for coupling a compule with a dental handpiece including a piston. The compule contains a dental material. The adapter includes a coupling portion that defines openings for attaching the adapter to the compule and for attaching the adapter to the dental handpiece. A plunger portion extends through one opening and engages the piston. A breakable tab connects the coupling portion and the plunger portion and breaks during dispensing of the material. The plunger portion is then movable relative to the coupling portion. A tip for use with the dental handpiece includes a housing that defines a chamber. A needle extends from the housing and defines a lumen having an opening from which the dental material is dispensed. A plunger slides within the chamber to push the dental material through the lumen and includes a rib that seals the plunger against the chamber during sliding movement of the plunger.
