The coat-forming composition can form a coating film having both water sliding ability and durability (water sliding ability after abrasion).

Finishing Of Additively Manufactured Parts With Smoothing And Color

A surface finishing apparatus and method for smoothing and coloring parts made by additive-manufacturing technologies is disclosed. The surface finishing apparatus includes a tank or chamber into which a part is placed. A colorant is added. The part is both colored and smoothed until the part is at a desired smoothness and color. The part may be smoothed by different suitable smoothing technologies, including abrading with solid media, spraying with a liquid fluid, spraying with solid particles entrained in a liquid fluid, or submersing in a liquid vortex. Also disclosed is a composition for a colorant for a finishing process that smooths a surface of an additively manufactured part while coloring the additively manufactured part.

Coating compositions are provided that eject droplets of condensed fluid from a surface. The coatings include a nanostructured coating layer and in some embodiments, also include a hydrophobic layer deposited thereon. The coating materials eject droplets from the surface in the presence of non-condensing gases such as air and may be deployed under conditions of supersaturation of the condensed fluid to be ejected. A heat exchanger design utilizing the coating is described herein.

Continuous coil pretreatment process

Described herein is a continuous coil pretreatment process used to treat the surface of an aluminum alloy sheet or coil for subsequent deposition of an acidic organophosphorus compound. The process can include applying a cleaner to a surface of an aluminum sheet or a coil; etching the surface of the aluminum sheet or the coil with an acidic solution; rinsing the surface of the aluminum sheet or the coil with deionized water; applying to the surface of the aluminum sheet or the coil a solution of an acidic organophosphorus compound; rinsing the surface of the aluminum sheet or the coil with deionized water; and drying the surface of the aluminum sheet or the coil.

Systems and methods for laminating can end stock

Improved aluminum can end stock (CES) is disclosed. The CES includes an adhered polymer coating exhibiting low feathering and high performance in various acid tests. The low feathering and resistance to acid tests is accomplished by incorporating a copolymer adhesion promoter film to an aluminum alloy before lamination. In some cases, the metal strip is pretreated with a conversion layer, which can include compounds of trivalent chromium (Cr(III)) and phosphates or titanium and zirconium.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF FORMING A FLUID BARRIER

The present disclosure provides fluid barriers as well as systems and methods of forming fluid barriers. The method includes cleaning, via a blast media, a first side of a component and heating the component to a first temperature. Subsequently, the component is cleaned using a solvent. Subsequent to heating at least the component, a primer coating layer is formed on the first side of the component, and a topcoat layer is formed in contact with the primer coating layer. A primer coating material can be heated to a second temperature prior to formation of the primer coating layer. The first temperature can be different than the second temperature.
