METHOD AND SYSTEM OF MECHANICAL NERVE STIMULATION FOR PAIN RELIEF
A system and method of using a lead introduced to a subject proximate to a region of pain is contemplated to deliver pain relief without the need for multiple needle insertions or electrical stimulation. The three-dimensional lead may include spring-like characteristics and/or coils to translate mechanical energy into the therapy.
Blind Dog Navigation System
The present invention relates to a device and a method associated with helping blind dogs navigate. With respect to the device, it is a set of one or more sensors and stimulators, which provide situational awareness to a blind dog regarding objects and sudden drops in its vicinity, helping the dog freely move about without the risk of collision or fall. The core components of the invention are a distance sensor, a microcontroller, a tactile/audio stimulator, an accelerometer, a power source, a control panel, a body harness, and a head wrap, which, generally speaking, are configured as follows: a frontal distance sensor mounted on top of a blind dog's head using the head band, the lower distance sensor, the stimulators, the microcontroller, the accelerometer, the power source, and the control panel are mounted on the blind dog using the body harness. With respect to the associated method, in order to carry out the method the following core steps are followed: a frontal distance sensor method to detect the objects in front of the blind dog and alert the blind dog when a collision is imminent, a drop sensor method to detect sudden drops in front of the blind dog and alert the dog when a fall is imminent, a velocity calibration method and a velocity computation method determine the movements of the dog based on accelerometer signals, and a velocity compensated alert method adjust and increase the alert distance/time when the dog is moving toward an obstacle or a drop.
WHEELCHAIR FOR FOUR-LEGGED ANIMAL
A wheel chair 1A to be used for a four-legged animal that comprises: a healthy limb side holder 2 attached to the healthy limb side body; a impaired limb side holder 3 that is attached to the impaired limb side body and rotatably supports wheels 53; and a pair of connecting members 4 connecting the healthy limb side holder 2 and the impaired limb side holder 3 at the left and right positions of the four-legged animal respectively, wherein the pair of connecting members 4 are configured to be extendable in the longitudinal direction independently of each other.
Cooling Compression Sleeve
A cooling compression sleeve device generally comprising three layers, a flexible bottom layer, a flexible middle layer, and a flexible top layer, and two voids, the first void substantially filled with a cooling agent and the second void comprising a selectively inflatable air bladder, which in its preferred form is portable, cleanable, reusable, and useful to provide cooling therapy to the limbs of humans or animals and particularly to the knee, shoulder, and elbow joints.
SLIDING ASSEMBLY AND MOTION ASSISTANCE APPARATUS INCLUDING THE SAME
A sliding assembly may include a supporting frame having a proximal end and a distal end, a sliding frame partially inserted to the supporting frame, and a supporting member disposed between the supporting frame and the sliding frame to prevent the supporting frame from directly contacting the sliding frame, wherein the sliding frame is configured to move relative to the supporting frame.
DEVICE FOR THE TREATMENT OF THE MOTILITY OF QUADRUPLES
Disclosed is a device for the rehabilitation and treatment of traction in the walking dysfunctions of the animals and for the general training of the cardio-respiratory and muscular functions of animals. The device has a structure, at least one mechanism for stationary traction adapted to allow an animal to walk, at least one support member adapted to support the weight of the treated animal with at least one upright, at least one cross member fixed to the upright that extends substantially parallel over the structure, at least one bar fixed to the cross member, at least one lift tie rod, and at least one harness. The device is arranged to change and adjust at least one operating parameter so as to make the device adaptable to the size or pathologies of the animal to be treated.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PHYSICAL STIMULATION OF TISSUE
Methods and systems of applying physical stimuli to tissue are disclosed. The methods can include reducing or suppressing pancreatitis in a subject by administering a low magnitude, high frequency mechanical signal on a period basis and for a time sufficient to reduce or suppress pancreatitis. The methods can include enhancing healing of damaged tissue in a subject by administering to the subject a low magnitude, high frequency mechanical signal on a periodic basis and for a time sufficient to treat the damaged tissue. The systems can include a device for generating a low magnitude, high frequency physical signal and a platform for applying the low magnitude, high frequency physical signal to the subject for a predetermined time.
APPARATUS FOR GENERATING SHOCK WAVES
The present disclosure relates to a device for generating shock waves that comprises an interchangeable applicator head for generating shock waves for treatment of human or animal bodies, which applicator head comprises a reflection or focusing mechanism, two electrode tips for producing a spark gap, and a membrane, which together with the reflection or focusing mechanism encloses a fluid medium that is designed to generate a plasma when a voltage between 1 kV and 30 kV is applied. According to the disclosure, the applicator head is electrically and mechanically connected to a hand-held apparatus in a detachable manner.
Decentralized rotary actuator
A device and a method for actuating a joint of a human, an animal or a robot are disclosed. An elongated, lengthwise flexible and torsionally elastic body is provided for transmitting torque. Based at least in part on torsional deformation information of the body, torque is transmitted via the body. In an embodiment, a flexible drive shaft is provided, whereby the flexible drive shaft comprises said body. Furthermore, use of a flexible drive shaft as compliant element and as torque transmission element in a rotary actuator for actuating a mechanical joint is disclosed. In addition, use of a flexible drive shaft for determining an impedance of a joint of a human or an animal is also disclosed.
Body lift-assist walker device
The present invention provides a body lift-assist walker device for gait training is provided by the invention. The patient wears a pressurized body suit over all or a portion of his lower body, and the suit is attached to the walker device. A positive pressure or vacuum condition is applied to the interior of the suit, so that the differential pressure condition across the suit offloads a portion of the patient's body weight to the ground through the supportive walker device to make it easier for him to walk or run. The walker device also includes a lift-assisted body weight support device operated by a constant force mechanism like a pneumatic air cylinder that can lift the patient from a sitting position to a standing position with minimal physical effort. The device provides a portable and convenient system for persons undergoing physical therapy for treatment of gait or balance problems following an injury, stroke, or neurological disorder, or for use by elderly or disabled persons who have encounter difficulties in the sit-to-stand movement or walking.
