Methods and apparatuses for reducing bleeding via electrical trigeminal nerve stimulation
Disclosed are apparatuses and methods for reducing or limiting bleeding (e.g., blood loss and/or bleeding time) in an animal by trigeminal stimulation. The apparatuses and methods may activate one or more branches of the trigeminal nerve. This activation may be invasive or non-invasive.
Therapeutic use of electroacupuncture-induced mesenchymal stem cells
Stimulation using EA of LI-4, LI-11, GV-14 and GV-20 in humans, horses, and rodents results in mobilization of MSCs into systemic circulation. Methods are provided for increasing mesenchymal stem cells in the circulating blood of a mammal by contacting acupuncture points LI-4, LI-11, GV-14, and GV-20 of the mammal with a therapeutically effective amount of EA stimulation to mobilize MSCs into the circulating blood of the mammal. Methods for treating damaged tissue, specifically damaged tendons are also provided. Isolated mesenchymal stem cells made according to these methods, methods of isolated them, and stem cell banks that store them are also provided.
ANIMAL MASSAGER
An animal massager for stimulating a pet animal, such as a house cat, is disclosed. In a particular version, the animal massager is ideally suited to gently engage, massage, and stimulate cat whiskers and the surrounding tissue located at the base of the whiskers by contacting the animal with one or more protrusions and surfaces. In a version, the animal massager generally comprises an elongated handle and a head portion affixed to an end of the elongated handle. The head portion may include a lateral extending protrusion, a rear continuous surface, and a pair of longitudinally extending protrusions. The lateral extending protrusion, rear continuous surface, and pair of longitudinally extending protrusions provide contact points and surfaces for rubbing or massaging multiple areas of the animal, particularly suited to massage the head and face area of a cat.
METHOD AND SYSTEM OF MECHANICAL NERVE STIMULATION FOR PAIN RELIEF
A system and method of using a lead introduced to a subject proximate to a region of pain is contemplated to deliver pain relief without the need for multiple needle insertions or electrical stimulation. The three-dimensional lead may include spring-like characteristics and/or coils to translate mechanical energy into the therapy.
A MULTI-PURPOSE APPARATUS FOR TREATING AN ANIMAL
A multi-purpose apparatus for treating an animal. The apparatus includes at least two vibrators; a massage head coupled with the at least two vibrators; a controller configured to control the at least two vibrators such that they generate a variable beat frequency to the massage head; and a housing accommodating the at least two vibrators, the massage head, and the controller. The massage head comprises a concave curvature to follow contours of the animal so that the concave curvature becomes in contact with a musculoskeletal system of the animal, the massage head is coupled with the at least two vibrators so that two vibrators are positioned at opposite ends of the concave curvature. The massage head is adapted and dimensioned such that an interchangeable curry brush curved to follow the contours of the animal is coupleable with the massage head.
Non-invasive methods for prevention, detection, treatment, and healing of neoplastic processes in dogs and cats
The invention is a method consisting of stimulation of specific new acupuncture points to prevent, treat and heal specific types of neoplastic process in dogs and cats. The specific acupuncture points used in the method of the invention have not been previously disclosed for the treatment of neoplastic processes. The treatments can be carried out by accredited practitioners in a clinical setting or by a layperson. The stimulation can be provided by any of the known techniques used for stimulation of controlling points, including, but not limited to, traditional acupuncture needles, auto-injector needles, electric acupuncture, acupressure, lasers, acupuncture lasers, UV radiation, infra-red radiation, heat, magnets, moxibustion, and a combination of two or more of these techniques, for example, the use of both needles and laser acupuncture simultaneously in a single treatment session.
MASSAGE APPLIANCE HAVING FLOATING MOTOR AND VIBRATION PLATE FOR VIBRATION ISOLATION
A vibration appliance includes a vibration-isolation structure which substantially reduces vibration felt by the user at the handle. The vibration motor is mounted to a vibration plate which carries the massage node. The vibration plate floats within the vibration appliance housing, being suspended by a flexible, elastomer membrane having contours such as curves or folds in it that provide freedom of movement of the vibration plate relative to the housing to which the flexible membrane is mounted. This arrangement can be thought of as the motor and vibration node being mounted on a flexible diaphragm that can move freely as if mounted to the housing by a bellows-like arrangement.
EQUINE EXERCISE BOOT ASSEMBLY AND ICE SPA
A boot assembly and method that simulates, in a static equine animal (stalled or hauled), the natural mechanical action of walking or other gaited exercise. The assembly has a boot, containing a shock absorbing pad that is fitted with one or more pulsing bladders disposed under or inside the shock absorbing pad. Pressuring and relaxing the pulsing bladder in the bottom of the boot rhythmically pushes against the sole and frog and against the toe of the equine hoof in much the same way that the hoof is exercised when the animal is moving. The pulsing action helps stimulate blood flow through the hoof and is beneficial to shod, injured, and transported horses. The assembly may be fitted on one or more hooves, and may be automated to provide timing and sequencing to simulate different gaits of the animal. In some aspects, the assembly is disposed in an ice boot or ice spa boot to also provide cryotherapy as well as simulated exercise.
Methods of diagnosing and treating neonatal reversion to fetal consciousness
This invention provides methods of diagnosing and treating syndromes of reversion to fetal consciousness in a neonate.
Rotatable horse lifting and supporting device
A four-legged animal lifter. Lifting straps extend downward from a rotatable horse support structure. Four harnesses are connected to the lifting straps and are attached to the legs of the four-legged animal. A lifting apparatus is attached to the rotatable horse structure and is for lifting the four-legged animal upwards to reduce weight on the animal's legs. In preferred embodiment the four-legged animal is a horse.
