Method and use of a binder for providing a metallic coat covering a surface
A method for providing a metallic coat covering a surface is disclosed, which comprises: (i) applying an electrically conductive two component binder on said surface; (ii) electrostatic spraying a metal powder on the binder applied in step (i); wherein the metal powder comprises metal particles with an average diameter less than 80 micron.
Coated article having hairline pattern and method of producing the same
According to one embodiment, a coated article having a hairline pattern includes a base member having at least its surface region formed of a resin. A surface of the base member has a hairline pattern. A resin layer containing powder of a brilliant material in a resin is provided on the surface of the base member having the hairline pattern.
PROCESS FOR METALLISING A POLYMERIC SURFACE
A process is described for metallising a polymeric surface of an article. The process comprises applying to the polymeric surface a liquid carrier containing a suspension of metallic or metal-looking particles. The polymeric surface and the liquid carrier are such that the wetting angle between the liquid carrier and the polymeric surface is of substantially 90 or above and the particles and the polymeric surface are such that the particles have a greater affinity to the polymeric surface than to one another or to the liquid, so that particles suspended in the liquid migrate to the interface between the liquid and the polymeric surface to form a monolayer coating of particles on the polymeric surface.
PAYMENT CARD SYSTEM AND METHOD
Embodiments of the invention relate to payment cards and methods for making payment cards. In one embodiment, a card comprises a first layer and a second layer adjacent to the first layer. The second layer comprises a plurality of particles comprising metal, and the plurality of particles comprise at least about 15 volume % of the second layer. In another embodiment, a mixture is prepared comprising polymer and a plurality of particles comprising metal. The plurality of particles comprise at least about 15 volume % of the mixture. The mixture is pressed and an outer layer is applied. The mixture and outer layer are then cut to form the card.
Coating of a glass sleeve
Disclosed is a method of applying a coating to a glass sleeve with an inner surface and an outer surface, the glass sleeve configured as a part of a solar-receiver tube. Thereby, the coating is solely applied to one of the surfaces of the glass sleeve. Also disclosed is a method of fixing such glass sleeve in an interior of a coating tank, such coating tank and a fixing arrangement for fixing such glass sleeve in an interior of a coating tank.
CHROMATE-FREE PRECOATED METAL SHEET HAVING METALLIC APPEARANCE AND WATER-BASED COATING COMPOSITION USED IN THE SAME
A chromate-free coated metal sheet according to the present invention includes: a metal sheet; and a coating film which contains an organic resin A as a film formation component and a flaky aluminum pigment C having a deactivation-treated surface on at least one surface of the metal sheet; wherein the thickness of the coating film is in a range of 1.5 to 10 m.
Case, method of manufacturing case, and electronic device
A case for an electronic device includes an injection preform having a recess on at least one portion of a surface thereof, a deposition layer deposited on a surface of the injection preform, and a paint layer formed on the deposition layer. The deposition layer may directly contact a surface of the injection preform. A method of manufacturing a case includes injection-molding an injection preform having a recess on a surface thereof, forming a deposition layer directly contacting a surface of the injection preform, and forming a paint layer on the deposition layer.
Film mirror, and composite film for use in same
The film mirror includes a resin substrate; a metal reflective layer; and a surface coating layer, a ratio of a number of fluorine atoms to a number of carbon atoms in a surface layer portion of the surface coating layer as expressed by F/C is 0.21 to 1.00 and the surface coating layer has a surface hardness of more than 100 N/mm.sup.2 and an elastic recovery rate of 60% or more. The film mirror has stain-proof properties, and scratch resistance so that the surface is resistant to scratches in collision with sandy dust and is also resistant to scratches upon cleaning with a brush.
Deposition of a silver layer on a nonconducting substrate
Methods for the deposition of silver-comprising films on nonconducting substrates, and, more particularly, to deposition of such films that are very thin, are provided. The surface of nonconducting substrates is modified with a superabsorbent polymer to increase silver deposition when compared to a non-modified surface. Also provided are films produced using a swelling agent, whereby porosity of the surface of the nonconducting substrate is increased, thereby permitting increased silver deposition when compared to an unmodified surface.
