Acrylic Polyester Resin and An Aqueous Coating Composition Containing the Same
There is described an acrylic polyester resin, obtainable by grafting an acrylic polymer with a polyester material. The polyester material is obtainable by polymerizing (i) a polyacid component, with (ii) a polyol component. At least one of the polyacid component and/or the polyol component comprises a monomer having an aliphatic group containing at least 15 carbon atoms. At least one of the polyacid component and/or the polyol component comprises a functional monomer operable to impart functionality on to the polyester resin, such that an acrylic polymer may be grafted with the polyester material via the use of said functionality. Also provided is an aqueous coating composition comprising the acrylic polyester resin and a packaging coated with the composition.

By coating an inner surface of a preform, in which at least an inner surface is made of polyester and which has transparency, with a coating layer, which has elongation capacity and water insolubility, the inner surface of the preform is protected against a pressurized liquid by the coating layer when the pressurized liquid is supplied to the preform, and occurrence of cloudiness on an inner surface of a container after molding is prevented even in a case where a liquid having properties of eroding polyester and causing cloudiness on a polyester surface is used as the pressurized liquid during liquid blow molding.
Apparatus and systems for applying a liquid crop-preservative formulation to a container
A method for treating a substrate with a volatile liquid, crop-preservative formulation includes transporting a predetermined quantity of the formulation from a reservoir to an injection device and applying the predetermined quantity to the substrate. The substrate may thereafter be in proximity to a crop to be treated by the vapor from the formulation. The substrate is most conveniently a portion of a container in which the crop is stored or shipped.
Pharmaceutical and other packaging with low oxygen transmission rate
Processing an evacuated blood sample collection tube or other vessel by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition to apply a tie coating or layer (289), a barrier coating or layer (288), and optionally one or more additional coatings or layers. The tie coating or layer of SiOxCy is applied under partial vacuum and, while maintaining the partial vacuum unbroken in the lumen, the barrier coating or layer is applied. Then optionally, while maintaining the partial vacuum unbroken in the lumen, a pH protective coating or layer of SiOxCy can be applied. As a result of this processing, a coated vessel is produced having a lower gas permeation rate constant into the lumen than a corresponding vessel made by the same process except breaking the partial vacuum in the lumen between applying the tie coating or layer and applying the barrier coating or layer. Retention features are also described for keeping the vessels stoppered during exposure to reduced ambient pressure.
