The catechol-containing conversion coating composition can be applied to metal substrate surfaces at temperatures as low as below 40? C. and with exposure times of 5 minutes or less. The catechol compound or reaction product thereof can become incorporated into the conversion coating formed on the metal substrate.
HIGH-DUCTILITY PERIODIC VARIABLE ALLOY PROTECTIVE FILM AND FORMING METHOD THEREOF
The disclosure provides a metal protective layer, sequentially comprising an organic powder coating, a high-gloss organic coating, a ductile periodic variable alloy protective film and a transparent powder coating, wherein the base powder layer is an epoxy resin or pure polyester powder coating; the high-gloss organic coating is an epoxy resin powder coating, a polyester powder coating, or a polybutadiene organic coating; the ductile periodic variable alloy protective film is formed by direct current magnetron sputtering with two targets in a high vacuum environment, and the material of the targets is composed of a NiCr alloy layer and pure Cr; and the transparent powder layer is an acrylic powder coating or a polyester transparent powder coating.
USE OF PREFORMED REACTION PRODUCTS OF CATECHOL COMPOUNDS AND FUNCTIONALIZED CO-REACTANT COMPOUNDS TO REDUCE OXIDATION OF BARE METAL SURFACES
The tendency of a bare metal surface to oxidize (e.g., flash-rust) may be alleviated by contacting the bare metal surface with an aqueous mixture of at least one preformed reaction product obtained by reaction of at least one catechol compound, such as dopamine or a salt thereof, with at least one co-reactant compound functionalized with one or more functional groups reactive with the at least one catechol compound, such as (meth)acryl, primary amino, secondary amino, thiol and/or hydroxyl groups, with polyethyleneimine being an example of a suitable co-reactant compound. Such a rinsing procedure does not interfere with subsequent conversion coating of the metal surface.
TREATMENT OF CONVERSION-COATED METAL SUBSTRATES WITH PREFORMED REACTION PRODUCTS OF CATECHOL COMPOUNDS AND FUNCTIONALIZED CO-REACTANT COMPOUNDS
The corrosion resistance of conversion-coated metal substrate surfaces is further enhanced by treating such surfaces with aqueous mixtures of preformed reaction products obtained by reacting catechol compounds, such as dopamine or a dopamine salt, and functionalized co-reactant compounds, such as a polyethyleneimine.
Method for coating metal surfaces of substrates, and objects coated according to said method
A coating, a method for coating surfaces, and the coated surfaces. The method includes providing a substrate with a cleaned metal surface; contacting and coating the metal surface with an aqueous composition having a ph of from 0.5 to 7.0 and in the form of a dispersion and/or a suspension; optionally rinsing the organic coating; and drying and/or baking the organic coating, or optionally drying the organic coating and coating same with a similar or another coating composition thereto. The composition contains a complex fluoride in a quantity of 1.1 10.sup.6 mol/l to 0.30 mol/l based on the cations. An anionic polyelectrolyte in a quantity of 0.01 to 5.0 wt % based on the total mass of the resulting mixture is added to an anionically stabilized dispersion made of film-forming polymers and/or a suspension made of film-forming inorganic particles.
